He should be sacked before he leaves the stadium tonight, disgusting performance and substitutions, hasn’t got a clue
-
Yep, agree 100 per cent. No plan, no motivation, unacceptable at any level. He's got to go after that! Harrogate are barely Conference standard and we didn't lay a glove on them.
-
This has to be his LAST match in charge . There is just nothing to see here worthy of paying for !!
-
Was never going to work. Isn’t working. Will never work. Time to go Danny
-
It will be interesting what bull shit comes out of his mouth after that performance.
You can be as romantic about the style of football you want to play all you want, if the players at your disposal do not fit the style of play you prefer then you are obligated as a football coach to play the style that fits the players.
I don't know about being a top coach, but somebody has wasted their time on the practice field with this lot if they have bothered to go one on one with them, its definitely landed on stony ground.
-
One word of warning - sacking him is the right choice, but if we stick with this philosophy of signing completely average (or worse) players, then it will not matter who the manager is!
Massive change required - not plod on with whatever the god-awful strategy is right now.
-
Then what?
Who do we bring in that could do any better with the bunch of dead wood, misfits, and past their best journeymen that make up this squad? It's just a collection of random players who don't fit together. 4-5 windows of clueless recruitment all coming home to roost. Any self respecting manager won't touch us with a bargepole. So that just leaves someone from the merry go round who's failed half a dozen times before.
I'd rather see us with Schofield, where at least it's a project for him and he has an idea of what he wants. He needs backing to see it through, it's clear the season was written off in January and he was left to muddle through to the end of the season with this shower of shit.
Problems at this club run much deeper than whoever is in the dugout. Focus the anger at those above him imo.
-
He has to go. I don't know what happens during training sessions, but the players don't seem to know what they should be doing. At throw-ins, players don't seem to want to receive the ball, the first decision is to play sideways or backwards and basic passes are overhit. The manager has to go.
-
Not sure what he's expected to do with this rag tag bunch of begged and borrowed misfits.
-
Exactly Dragon you're spot on.
-

Maybe he could try something different when everybody in the ground can see it’s not working?
I bet their manager was pissing himself when we swapped Lavery and Miller.
And why when Miller comes on we start going long ball to him is a complete mystery. As though we are throwing on a target man who has ever done anything with a long ball.

The only explanation for the long ball is that we were shit at the short ball stuff and kept giving them the ball in our own half, going long gives them the ball further up the pitch

But over time weve started doing it a lot with Miller, not just tonight.

So I’m usually (but not quite) on the happy clapper side of the fence but I have become fairly apathetic towards the club over the last couple of seasons. I still go to every home game and many away games but I’m now questioning why.
I never thought I’d say this but I wish Steve Evans was our manager

Do better with a bunch of misfits? I listened to the ifollow commentary on Harrogate tonight and they said the back four they have are all new? They seemed to have gelled pretty well (on a budget) (not that our defenders are to blame) but Weaver has done a GREAT job at that club.

Hmm, national league or evans?
I’ll take relegation thanks. No question for me.
-
Bloody hell, Evans?
we are are in Sh-t creek!
-
Agree he has to go after that. I'd also consider moving Coppinger on.
Danny over complicates his tactics with players who cannot execute or do not understand his methods.
I don't blame the players. I don't blame the owners.
These players are good enough to compete in what is a very poor division.
Unfortunately the manager has to go.
-
After recent performances, any belief I had that Schofield would eventually turn out to be a good appointment has almost evaporated.
It just isn't working, and I don't see how it can.
His tactics don't make sense. I don't understand how he thinks we're ever going to create enough chances playing this way, even if he's able to sign different players. Our forward players are better than this (on paper) but hardly ever receive the ball in dangerous positions.
He's also laughably inflexible, to the point that he's incapable altering the dynamics of a game in our favour.
The game tonight was crying out for him to try something different in the second half to inject some energy. All we get is like for like substitutions. He doesn't know anything else.

I agree he's done a great job there. He's been allowed to build his own squad over years though. Schofield had one January window - although as head coach I'm not sure how involved in transfers he is - where it's obvious the players brought in are stop gaps to see us through to the end of the season rather than part of any long term vision.
Whilever the recruitment process is what it is, signing journeymen and misfits and chucking good money after bad rather than trying to actively look for players who can improve to the level above, we'll continue to go backwards.
-
It isn’t going to work is it unfortunately? We’ve just lost to a really poor side. The manager is supposed to be an innovator, he couldn’t innovate a chicken!
He hasn’t got a clue, apart from trying to sound technical and rigidly sticking to 3-4-3.
It doesn’t matter if it works or not, it’s part of a process.
If Coppinger is to blame for appointing this fella, he isn’t a very good judge of character. He’s been blinded by his b..l s..t!
Once again I think after that and quite a few poor performances and results, he has earned a rest the manager. We need a proper appointment not trawling the market where nobody wants people. We need a proper experienced manager.
This isn’t a poor squad, it’s been bored s..tless by this fellas verbal diarrhoea of nonsense. Time to show ambition and stop running the club like a poor non league one.

The constant insistance of 1 upfront is mindboggling
. The forwards have no chance running themselves into the ground each game
-
A centre forward has scored in 2 of Schofields 21 games so far. Says it all really
-
As abject as that was, I’m going to stick my neck out and say that Schofield is not the root of the problem.
We don’t solve any of our issues by getting rid, IMO. The football operation is terrible and until that is resolved we will continue to go backwards.

Wow that’s a shocking stat mate

Get McCann on the phone and see if he wants some work

Agreed
-
Totally agree with all of the above. He can't come out saying "We're going full throttle" then put that out on the pitch.
I seem to remember McSheffrey saying something similar which was followed by an performance totally opposite. Having shot himself in the foot he was promptly sacked.
I wouldn't lose any sleep if Schofield met the same fate.
I can't understand for the life of me, just as we did in the Bradford game, pretty much at the same time, start getting deeper and deeper, conceding territory and inviting them on.
Up to that point, Olowu, Anderson and Nelson were the only players doing what it said on the tin.
We have the outside two, Rowe and Brown who aren't getting forward quick enough or often enough to provide the outlet the system needs. Meanwhile, centrally, we're like invisible men, hiding but going through the motions of looking like they want the ball but don't.
I don't understand how or why Schofield doesn't recognise this and demands the players push up when they start going backwards.
The system breaks down from the off then we shoot ourselves in the foot. That's a recipe for disaster and can't be allowed to continue.
-
Almost exactly two calendar years of total and utter abject constant failure. Butler, Wellens, McSheffrey and Schofield. Terrible football, appalling recruitment, horrific results.

Where are all the people that back this current regime today? The silence speaks volumes.
-
The deluded “one more heave and we can still make the play off” crowd are surely now realising the state this squad is in. This is a terrible side playing terrible football and getting terrible results in what is the lowest tier of the professional game in England. This has been apparent for a long time I am afraid.
-

I dont think he’d take this on unfortunately. Hes also too ambitious for our owners.
-
I think this sums up my one major concern with Schofield. We don't have a go at teams, at least try and win the game at home. I can accept seeing it out at Stockport that makes sense but at home attack and get the crowd behind you.
I think Schofield's a good coach, lots talk highly of him. But is he a good head coach? We really missed a trick not giving him an experienced assistant, it doesn't feel balanced having such a young set up.
Very worrying.

All in hiding but will come out after the next win !!

When we were two points off the play-offs with a game in hand having won 3 games on the bounce I believed we had a chance. Because we did.
After 1 point, no shots, no meaningful attacks IN FOUR GAMES you bet I’m furious, know the season is over and echo the calls for change. Two banks of five with no attacking impetus whatsoever at home to Harrogate Town. I have no words. That is tactical as much as a lack of talent in the squad. And it’s unforgivable.
-
It’s alright playing that system if you have the players to fit it-we don’t!
We lost a proper attacking full back, admittedly he wanted to go, but why did he want to go?
We got a better full back defensively, so what does he do?, he keeps playing like Knoyle is still there.
Rowe was one of our top players, he turns him into a utility man and his form has plummeted.
George Miller starts the season on fire, now can’t hit a barn door with a banjo.
Molyneux was a fantastic signing, not been the same player since we got him.
Hurst promising, his form has dropped. I could go on and on. The manager can’t manage. I suspect the players are sick of hearing his drivel much the same as we are!
-
And he’s still in a job!
