Title: Tommy Rowe
Post by: Super Colin Cramb on March 08, 2023, 03:45:25 pm
In the past I’ve been a big fan of Tommy, but last night display was woeful. He no longer has the legs or energy to be playing as a wing back/full back. The amount of time he went missing when we were defending was alarming. No surprise their 2nd goal come from the left side with no defender near him.

Agreed, he needs to play in midfield with willing workers around him to justify having him in the team moving forward.

Ive said it before, id like to see TR play up front. He has shown on a number of occasions he has a goalscoring talent. Possibly more so than Miller. Or Laverty.

Tommy’s not a left back he’s far more suited to a forward midfield role.

He’s better than Clayton was, has more technical ability & more for an eye for a goal than Molyneux.

As for playing up front, you have to be joking.

Tommy Rowe playing the lone striker role (which DS clearly favours). You might as well shove him in goal.

No idea who Laverty is.

who said anything about tr paying as lone striker?
to make such a radical change, which is what is needed imo, would also include a not so radical change in formation.
rowe's goalscoring previously has been with the support of others around him. so Lavery (fat fingers) could play with him. or perhaps Miller. In a 442.
fortune sometimes favours the bold.
im seeing no boldness from ds currently. and as such, no fortune.
dont take my word for it. wait for the team line ups come this sat.

I don’t think he’s fully fit.

In a terrible team he was very good last season in League 1 in his more customary midfield position.

He was also our most potent goal threat. I can't believe he's gone as far backwards as his recent performances suggest.

He's being let down and misused by the manager. He's being totally wasted.

At this stage of his career expecting him to bomb up and down the left wing is ridiculous.

Get him into a more forward position where he can cause some damage and manage his way through games. Even yesterday evening he put some excellent crosses in early in the first half.

Also last night he didn’t go up for all the set pieces which I couldn’t understand. He is the most likely to score.

He’s playing injured. When fit you’d want him in the 2 behind Miller imo
