I'm sure I read where Wellens said he was specifically employed to return Rovers to the style of football created by SOD when we had an identity of being the Arsenal of the north. He admitted he was often cutting his nose off to spite his face in his team selection and tactics.

 I wonder if Schofield is under similar instructions and is similarly struggling with the directive.

He’s failing as badly at that as he is winning games so I don’t think it’d change how anyone saw the situation.

If we were keeping the ball well and just lacking cutting edge in the final third people would, I think, be happier to stick with it. It’s not the case unfortunately.
