They say everything happens for a reason.
A whole new show.
Maybe get some wannabe young commentators to have a stab at it on a rotational basis. Or use supporters from every club to do a vlog type commentary for each game. Something fresh and new and different.

If I bother watching it, I use Iplayer on Sunday morning and fast forward through the punditry, I doubt I’m the only one, it might catch on

Strange but I always had the impression that the BBC was a bit to the left. Anyway we shouldn’t get too carried away if the pundits don’t appear the time to get worried is when the dustbin men don’t appear they’re for more valuable.

You see people like Andrew Neil, Alan Sugar, Fiona Bruce and think it's to the left? You see Gary Lineker basically being suspended for a comment about the right wing government whilst the BBCs chairman helps get loans for Boris with no repercussions and you think it's to the left? You see an episode of the new David Attenborough series pulled because it may cause a right wing backlash and you think it's to the left?

Just my view mate they seem over PC for me and from the names you mentioned there are other connections not politics.

I might watch tonight with it just being highlights, the pundits on all tv football shows over analyse things.

The commentators pulled out too though, so might not even happen or it'll just be game after game of silence.

It always struck me that it was the creative people at the Beeb tended to be lefty whereas it was the upper echelons of the Beeb, the executives above the creatives, who tended to be more right-leaning. Or at the very least, too frightened of anything with the slightest whiff of going against the establishment from rearing its head.

Fighting Talk on Radio 5 seems to have been replaced with an old podcast of something else at very short notice...

Don't people watch Match of the Day primarily to see highlights of the football?

Will this mean more time given over to football highlights and fewer interruptions of said highlights?

Will the BBC, funded by the general public, be saving money on highly-paid salaries?

Sounds like a win all round. What's all the fuss about?

People being punished whilst break no rules... Punished for speaking out against the government as it is seen as breaching impartiality yet the chairman is free to go against the same thing. How does anyone not understand the issue here? One rule for one and one for another...

Agree Branton. I always watch on iplayer so I can fast forward past the inane analysis of Lineker (grossly overpaid) and his sidekicks. Will watch it live tonight - will be almost like being at the matches with no commentary either.
