F*cking hell. If Messi or Ronaldo did that, people would be talking about it for years.
-
Wow! What a spot.
-
I very much doubt we have anyone in our squad with the thought process never mind the execution.
That nice Mr Moore really sold us down the river.
-
And he did it against Darren Ferguson.
Bit ironic that one as he was the man that discovered him. Or at least one of his scouts did.
-
The first touch arguably better than the second. That’s top quality.
-

Your forgetting Biggins hit the bar from the halfway line earlier in the season

That was a good effort, Gloster, but in no way could it compare with that today.
That was sheer world class.
-
Biggins had possession facing the goal towards the middle of the pitch, while Alfie had it tight on the touch line and was facing the wrong way. The shot was a bit hit and hope but the first touch and turn was very good for that level.

Granted, but like others have said, the Biggins one was well sighted and worth a pop, but May's today, with the turn and shot, that kind of skill and thought process is usually reserved for special players.
-
What a hit. Go on Alf.
-
Great first touch and he's obviously had a glance before the ball has come to him but think I prefer his second goal. Great technique when the ball comes out to him.
-
The moral of the story is...........
Some of us have an eye for a good player, and some of us don't.
:aok:
-
I would have him back but he is under contract till 24, perhaps we could buy him back?
His first goal was excellent and his second wasn't bad.
Well done Alfie.
-
Alfie always had great technique when he was here.
That goal was incredible, great vision and skill.
I’m glad that he is proving himself and I think he could do a good job for someone in the Championship.

Not just a turn and shot, actually a turn and volley! Great goal, glad to see him still doing well.
-
Meanwhile we’re left with a shower of very unimpressive players who wouldn’t look out of place at Selby town!! Who by the way were brilliant today scoring 4 goals on a difficult pitch. I actually enjoyed watching a football match but unfortunately it wasn’t Drfc.
-
Great goal but, its a hit and hope. A one in a million where his first touch is unintentional but has given him time to to look up and put his boot through it. Its the only option he had. The 2nd one is better. Fantastic technique. Love those kind of goals. Deserves a big money move does AM. Still dont believe the hype though. Only my opinion.
-
Great goal. Following another class goal last week
-
Good luck to him, he earned his chance and unfortunately it was Cheltenham rather than us who benefited most.
-
Two fantastic goals. Very rare for someone to get two as good as that in the same game. Been v impressed with him at Chelts.
-
He needed time and a manager that believed in him. When we let him go we had decent options and it seemed no great loss. Now we have less options and he has improved, by being valued by his manager and gaining confidence from the goals he has scored.
-
He had a heart of gold off the pitch and one of a lion on it. Where most players would trot onto the pitch May would explode onto it, he was that determined to succeed. Sometimes, due to the limited time he was given on the pitch, he would perhaps try too hard, but that could and should have been remedied had his potential been realised.
We found a rare diamond and sold it for peanuts.

I’ve just had a chance to watch the second goal that Alfie scored yesterday.
Brilliant ability and confidence.
Stocks said further back in the thread that the first one was hit and hope.
I suppose you could say that about any shot on goal.
I think it is more likely that Alfie knew that the keeper has a tendency to come well forward from his goal when the ball is in the other half and his first touch was to give him a chance of getting a shot away.
Not many of those types go in but just to have the skill and thought process to even try it is indicative of his overall ability.

Amazed myself he's still at Cheltenham Hound , I believe Cheltenham were asking £500k for him last summer on the back of 20 plus goals last season .
Absolutely brilliant goal by Alfie yesterday .
-
And he’ll likely get 20 odd this season.
Has proved himself to be a proper L1 player.
Whereas we can only dream about signing that kind of player now!
-

Kyle Hurst.
-
If Mo Salah or Marcus Rashford had scored that goal…….
-
Fantastic goal by May and it's nice to see him doing well. He seemed like a genuinely lovely lad.
Talk about him being some lost star that we couldn't see under our noses is a bit silly though.
He was in and out of the side under 2 managers before leaving - 2 managers who has us in and around the playoffs.
He then scored 15 goals in his first 61 appearances for Cheltenham in League 2. Not terrible, but a good bit lower scoring rate than Miller this season - a bit better than Kyle Hurst.
That seemed to be about the lad's standard and it wasn't good enough for where we were when he left, and where we stayed for a year after he left.
He's come on in leaps and bounds since then. Good luck to him. Some players do, and it's great that one of the nice guys has done. His one of the stories that makes you feel good about football.
We can accept that without having recriminations about him leaving us.
-
BST when did we ever pkay him as an out and out striker?we had Marquis mainly during Alfies time here
-
Got to love Alfie, brilliant goals thanks Darren

To all those who understand football and as I’ve said on here before it was very obvious that his confidence was growing along with his ability. Well done Alfie and again thanks Mr Moore.
-
:lol:Two great goals but if that 1st one had been scored against most would be moaning about the keeper on the 1st goal no doubt
-
Well done, Alfie. Always liked his endeavour whilst with us, but there was no way of shifting JM. However, there was always a footballer in there, despite a few on here thinking otherwise!
-
Quite interesting I read we received an eye watering £5,000 for Alfie when he left.
Another masterclass from Moore.
At least we had Rakish Bingham to fall back on eh.
-
Where was that then?

Hope we had a decent sell-on clause but I doubt it.

Pardon
when I was doing my "due Diligence" on Gillingham I came across him at Ebbsfleet
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakish_Bingham
he's scored 37 in 85 for them he's 29 and funnier things have happened than him one day getting back in the football league
-
Was chatting with the Hythe chairman, they had a decent sell on percentage and were gutted he left us for as cheaply as he did. We paid about 20k for him.
-
Just saying like .... Alfie scored another today. :chair:

Alfie May has been on a mission ever since he left Rovers and is fully deserving of any accolades that come him his way !!
