Anyone watching this series?
Robert Gordon Uni have this bloke on the wing, FREGENE who just seems to sit there and take no part whatsoever.
They've done well despite him.
-
Yes I know about him t - but i haven't seen last nights show as we tape it and mastermind -
we watch mastermind later on the monday and university challenge on the tuesday
we try to translate what Paxton says - often have to put the text on - for some reason he has modern pronunciations of words and he really pisses me off with the BCE pollution ofBC (before christ)
You have heard of the term product placement when coronation street shows say a hp bottle of sauce
well I have invented a term for that University team .....
they have "RACE PLACEMENT" (TV adverts have gone over the top with "RACE PLACEMENT" )
I would have kept that term that i have invented to myself
but thanks for spotting it. I presume he was silent once again ? I mean having a coloured person ( I am talking in old money here) and NOT PICKING PEOPLE ON INTELLIGENCE.
But the camera man stiil stayed loyal to him by focusing on him from time to time
in fact I have christenened them the "Placement team"
t I can't remember this mob competing before for what it's worth.
As for their captain would you define the person as a male or female -- we know the answer.
by chance last night on Mastermind I guessed 3 answers on the contestants own subjects my best ever.. It's more fun inventing answers on something you generally know nothing about than the general knowledge questions.
Hoe for Frank Zappa
Bleriot for an aeroplane question - I gave Mrs Coleman extra information that it wasn't American Cody who got killed in England doing his aeronautical stunts -- She thought I was bull$hitting.
and some other answer.
The programme badly needed to get rid of him as his illness took over.
A Doctor watched the show and noticed how his face was changing -- he got in touch with Paxton and identified his problem.
Ironically in say the last ten years Paxton "traded in his wife for a newer version"

You've taken this to a new level Coleman.
My point was that he was completely hopeless, nothing more, which continued last night.
As for the captain, Cullen, she was brilliant and came across as very likeable.
Edit
Once on Masrmind a blokes specialist subject was the band Jethro Tull.
I knew all the answers.
Usually, on SS I know nothing
-
On the subject of seeing people with no intelligence front and centre....Jeremy "Paxton" Paxman is stepping down from University Chellenge at the end of this series because he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's, which is obviously affecting his speech. And irritating CLF.

The person less likely to answer a question right (unless he gets a question on the subject he is studying is place in what I call the left book end position. That is where he was . The obvious point is why did they play a "weakened team" ??
Yes they do tailor questions to what each team studies . That bloke on the left in the other team is an encyclopedia on films and over the previous shows has harvested points on film questions. Remember i haven't seen last nights show yet.
I do know all about why Paxman is retiring see above -- but he is using modernistic pronounciations of words - which has nothing to do with his illness "Don Juan" is a speciality -
By the way can you remember the year St.Andrews all wore their red gowns on the show and I had to put my sun glasses on . To think our future King and Queen have their own red gowns tucked away
Yes the captain in question is very knowledgable Mrs Coleman also likes the person .
Next week presumably we get the gaggle of women unless they have been knocked out

Oy! I heard that.

Ok so we watched it Mrs. Coleman said the person on the winning team top right looked more like a woman than their captain - I Thought that from their debut (but he had som brilliant answers).
The Flim Man got filmish questions.
I made a note of what our non performing friend (in the left bookend position) was studying and it as a "general science" over a wide spectrum -
..... i thought i would find the exact title of his course but gave up when I came across this in the sun

First was Southampton who consisted of Ethan Lyon, Magda Steele, Dom Belcher and Elliot Miles.
Their opponents, from Robert Gordon, were made up of Samuel Fregene, Donald Anderson, Emily Cullen and Faye Cook.
It was Samuel Fregene caught viewers attention - but for all the wrong reasons.
Taking to Twitter, fans pointed out his lack of contribution and silence during the competition.
One said: "Fregene chose the wrong time to go on a vow of silence! Don’t think he uttered a word in a single episode! Waste of space!"
Another quizzed: "Is Fregene's buzzer broken?"
A third penned: "Think Fregene should have went on Pointless."
It was Southampton who came out on top with a total of 170 points, whereas Robert Gordon only racked up a score of 60.

I think they finally put the questions in about the African rulers (just for him - like the film questions for the other bloke) but sadly their opposition got their starter
One of the photos was of the former ruler of the blokes country Nigeria !!!!!
I know everyone here could guess Jomo Kenyatta as he was the first African leader we as children saw !! just like Wrigley knows Kenya Tanganika & uganda - shared the same stamps !!
Funny they didn't have Iddy amin or EEbuygum umgabee( I have no idea how to spell their names nor care) surely the last one was the longest ruler of an African Country.
