Are we kidding ourselves that we still live in a democracy? Especially after yesterday... and becoming an authoritarian state which I highlighted on here a few months ago.
Where does it end, anti-strike laws, police bill to stop peaceful protest and journalists being arrested for reporting on it, voter ID laws.
Will Labour actually reverse this or will it be more of the same?

I'm a busted flush I know but :
I believe PR would solve lots of the issues we and others around the world have by sorting out extremism from wherever it comes.
Just wish we could get there but of course neither of the big Parties want it even though every other European Country except Belarus have it
It is supposed to make everyone's vote count and it probably does. It can produce a rat a tat burst of Elections in the likes of Italy but in the end more people get what they want rather than now where the last Election gave the winning Party an 80 seat majority and immense power whilst having only 43% of the votes cast , meaning 57% of the Electorate who bothered to vote did not vote for that Party
Almost 33% ( estimate ) or 13 million plus people did not even bother to Vote and lots of them feel there is no point voting as " it doesn't matter if I vote cos Party X will win in my Constituency" anyway
That surely should be and could be fixed by PR

I think the issue is that these protesters are no longer peaceful committing vandalism at almost every protest, they are a small minority that want to spoil things for the vast majority, my issue with yesterday is if the Police can do that to prevent disruption at a royal occasion, they should also do the same for those that disrupt traffic etc by sitting on maim roads and glueing themselves to them

.... and they could deport them to Rwanda
They might with their huge majority come back and put that through Parliament

Democracy doesn't mean doing what you want and stopping other people from doing what you don't want.

That's the definition of government. It's making sure that the government is a democratic one that matters.

It will most certainly continue under a Labour government. This is life as we know it and we’d better get used to it. I put most of the blame on the rapid advancement of technology, particularly social media. We, as humans, are simply not ready for it.
We are f**ked, I’m afraid.

You have got too much time on your hands reading that Garbage. Police State! You need a huge Police Force to maintain a Police state Our Police Force is barely fit for Purpose and full of Wokes who when faced with an angry man prefer to do the Macarena rather than ‘Wade’ in!
The law is constantly evolving to meet the needs of modern society, they have merely created a power to deal with Morons Fastening themselves onto the Dartford Crossing of Disrupting a busy road Junction how much Financial damage and loss of folks wages has that carry on caused. If you don’t like it go live in North Korea and see what a real Police state looks like!

Just because you don't like my opinion and you are getting defensive.
Do you not believe in free speech? and have you lived in North Korea before?

They wasn't though they discussed with police that it would be a peaceful protest but they just arrested them and wouldn't give a reason.
If this kind of attitude was deployed in Russia, China, North Korea would you agree with it?

They were handing out Rape Alarms by the dozen, the military quite rightly pointed out that they would spook the horses and cause them to buck, they made the right decision.

Not surprising considering the track record of met police.
And supposedly they was the City of Westminsters Safety Team who were ARRESTED and are volunteers handing them out, held of 14 hours. Bit excessive in my eyes.
Then again the media will tell you what they want you to hear and not facts. https://twitter.com/brokenbottleboy/status/1654872359365402624

Those horses that had men playing massive drums sat on them, with cannons being fired and fly pasts from jet aircraft.
I think you'll find those horses are highly trained to not get spooked by loud noises around them.

It's just an excuse to justify their actions, police arresting journalists for reporting on protests is something you'd see in china or russia but we aren't transitioning into a police state supposedly. Think people need to do their research and see exactly what is happening in this country

Give over. The only ones getting spooked by a rape alarm going off are the Met officers.

If we're turning in to Russia I'd expect a knock on the door from the police for your criticism and some hard labour.
But we're not. I think most of what the police have done is what we'd expect them to.

No they haven't. They have a created a state where the police can arrest anyone at anytime on the pretext they don't like them.
In a democratic state you arrest criminals after they have committed a crime. In a fascist state you arrest them before they can commit a crime.
If thats the country you want to live in - well...

The commonwealth represents one third of the worlds population . A few dozen arrests are meaningless . I’ve seen more arrested at a single football match . Perspective .

This is how a authoritarian and dictatorial regime starts though in the form of control and telling people what to do, and it is surprising how it draws paraellels with the nazi regime in Germany in 1930s marginalizing people from overseas making you think they are the problem but it is actually the government that is the problem.
Coming out of the EU to take away all of our rights are being eroded by our very eyes.
A host of countries and the United Nations have condemned the anti-strike laws and the public order bill all of which will not work and these kind of policies are brought in because they're losing the argument.
I work on the railway and yes we have agreed a deal now but every person within the public sector should 'work to rule' and see how good our public services run with no staff and organisations which relies on overtime to keep it covered which is the case with the Railway.
