What a shock… NOT.
I could have guessed that before even opening the link. Absolutely ludicrous offering him that contract. Ah well, hopefully lessons learned going forward.
-
Anderson and Taylor might manage the odd cameo between injuries, but have no role beyond that. These two are the past, mistakenly offered contracts when they'd already become crocks. Grant is building our future.
-
My experience of football after a serious back injury is that you're never the same and after the operation you may as well say goodbye. You never know things may have moved on since the eighties but good luck to Tom he was always fully committed.

Bumps, bruises niggles and knocks ?!
Where have they been going on holiday !?

Wood (C)

Wood (C)
Got to be, that decision surely makes itself.

Giving Anderson a new deal was mystifying really. Especially after the last couple of years, perfect opportunity to get a big earner off the wage bill and refresh that area.

I do wonder if Tom is no longer a big earner at the club. I suspect he is still though.

Entirely agree, we could also have got a better quality keeper in
-
I agree that you’re hardly ever the same again after a back operation but I hark back to seeing Steve Lister in the main stand at Belle Vue he could hardly move and he was operated on by a guy called Jonathan Reddon who subsequently operated on myself - anyway Lister later returned to the team before leaving and having a good few seasons at Scunny, so it’s not all doom and gloom for Tom Anderson. Fingers crossed!

A perfect example of jobs for the boys with Copps as HOF, unfortunately there's no room for sentiment in Football

...and so it begins, I wonder how many more during pre season.

Does any team irrespective of the division their in go through pre-season without picking up an injury, knock or two?

It gives the opportunity for Olowu or Bobby to stake a claim to partner RW, to me that is brilliant news
-
I’d see this as a blessing in disguise. A fit Anderson would probably have partnered Wood but now gives Olowu a chance and he’s the better option.
Terrible decision to give him that extended contract but nothing we can do about it now apart from hope that Copps & the Board learn from it.
-
Not overly concerned, he doesn't get in my starting 11, hasn't for a while... Olowu and Wood for me with Faulkner as the 3rd

Agree, that's a big plus from last season, we have a strong squad and can hopefully allow Tom to recover properly, fingers crossed for the lad!
