Title: Campi Flegrei
Post by: normal rules on June 28, 2023, 11:43:20 am
Never heard of it till a few days ago.
The experts reckon irrespective of all the possible scenarios, the crust is becoming increasingly weaker in this area and therefore more likely to be ruptured at some point, sooner rather than later.   There are 360,000 people living on top of this thing . Jesus.

The full detailed report is on the Communication Earth and Environment Journal for those interested .

In Italy and in Campania in particular there is no proper organised green belt initiatives. Therefore property speculators along with urban poor have built on this area for years, The same thing has happened on Mount Vesuvius, the amount of people who have built illegally in an area where if it ever happened again, any sort of volcanic eruption would probably kill tens of thousands of people.

Not something that's easily stamped on, when you have organised criminals profiteering from this activity then its almost impossible to stop in Italy.

That's nothing to what will happen when Yellowstone blows.

A full blown Yellowstone eruption is a global extinction event for sure.
But the experts aren’t getting concerned about Yellowstone like they are the one in Italy. In fact they don’t predict an eruption there for centuries, if at all.

Heavy going, but makes interesting reading. Especially with regards to possible rupture scenarios.
The warning signs are there. And growing.
