Just seen that. I'm gobsmacked. Just last week I listened to The Lion and The Cobra for the first time in 30 years. It's spellbinding. The power and fragility of her voice was searing.

RIP.

Just about to post the same. How sad. Gorgeous voice but a troubled soul and not an easy life.

RIP Sinead.

She had a great voice. The first album was a better. Very soon after Andy Rourke passed too.

I'm just listening to it again now. She had a voice like nothing I'd ever heard before Part beguilingly seductive siren. Part terrifying banshee. I guess that was an indication of how troubled she was. Poor soul.

A beautiful woman with a more beautiful voice.
She was ostracised and belittled and her career ruined for ripping up the photo of Pope John Paul in protest at the Catholic Church's cover up of abuse.
She was later proved right of course.
RIP Sinead. Legend.

RIP what a voice, what a lovely looking woman, and another person who was ruined by religion

When she criticised the Pope and Catholic church and was lambasted for it in USA. Sang at the Dylan 30th anniversary concert and refused to sing I believe in you because of the booing and went into an accapella War before stomping off the stage.

I disagree, Dude. Her religious choices in turning towards Islam were her own.

Her troubled state of mind was caused by her mother abusing her as a child, men molesting and raping her, and the tragic suicide of her beloved son, Shane, described by her as "the lamp of my soul, now at peace with God".

Scawsby, with respect where was Islam mentioned anywhere above? All comments were directed towards the Catholic Church, and her anger towards it.

My comments were aimed at the Catholic Church for clarification
Regardless she graced the world with her voice

leave's you wondering if her management/company, A&R etc, ever thought about getting her some help for all her mental tortures or we're they more interested in just publishing her as was, mental state and all for profit?

She wouldn't be the first, or the last.

Bahrain,

Dude first mentioned "religion". He didn't mention the Catholic church, which he has now clarified.

As a Catholic myself, I totally agree with Sinead about the appalling abuse. She'd every right to be angry.

However, there were far more reasons than that for her sad mental decline.
