Have I missed something?
Our local Esso station in the village, which was cheaper than the local major supermarkets, has suddenly gone crazy price wise.
From £1.39 for Diesel it went to £1.41 last weekend today it went to £1.43 this morning and this afternoon is at £1.46.
It can't be from lack of trade as everytime we have been past there are always several cars filling up.
Is something causing this dramatic rise, we haven't watched the news over the past week or so, is it the same in Donny?

Deisel has gone up and down 4p in last week or at local Sainsbury's
-
I have a Cosco card and even they have put diesel up 2p a litre to £1.35 in the last 2 weeks

Brent crude wholesale prices have been on a steady increase for a month on the back of OPEC output cuts. There has been some correction this week though.
There is usually a lag between oil prices and the price at the pump

Only a one way lag though, always quick to put prices up, but never quick to bring them down

I'm still waiting for Chips to go back down from fourpence (roughly 2p) to sixpence (roughly 3p) in 1967 after a "potato shortage " in mid 60s was cited for the rise
-
Noticed a large bag of chips was 3quid other day in Scarborough. Me and lad was with remembered as teenagers asking for 20p worth when hanging round shops of an evening. Realised that now we are officially old enough to be going "when I was your age could get bus into town with a tenner ....."

Or worse still ( for me ) a Pound.
Stainy to Thorne 9d each way so 1 & 6 pence (7.5p)
6 pints for say 2 shillings each equalled 12 shillings (60p)
Fishcake and big bag chips call it another 1 & 6 pence (7.5 p)
Total around 15 Bob or 75p !
Used to drop change in a box and do this every night so by Friday I had a quid already plus the Friday quid , so a good night was always in store.
I actually remember Beer going up to 10p a pint and we were gutted that now we would "only" get 10 pints for a quid
Then when it got to 2&6 (12.5p) we were gutted again as that was only 8 pints for a quid and soon enough it will be 8 quid for 1 pint as an average

Wolfie,
I remember 10p a pint night, on a Monday's at Rooftops in Wakefield back I the late 80's
-
Wow that's good going for that era . A Happy Night indeed
BB or SS or Selby will be wondering whether to disclose the 4d pints they used to drink
-
I was living in Newcastle in 1973. Federation Special was 11p a pint, Newcastle Exhibition was 12 & a half pence a pint. You could get pi**ed on a £1. I was earning £13 a week working at Bainbridges Department Store in the Bigg Market & working in a Social Club in the evenings & Sunday afternoons.
Never been as well off!

Yes, Wolfie. I can remember chips and mushy peas as a "sixpenny mix".
Apparently BB remembers it as a "farthing mix".
-
Or in his case a farting mix probably ;) ;)

Now gone up to £1.49 per litre a 10p rise in just over a week, crazy. I will hazard a gues that the fuel companies are back on blaming Ukraine v Russia
