Not sure why people think Newport will struggle, they seem decent to me.

A team doesn't need to be decent against defending like that, Albie.

Abysmal, just abysmal. I honestly don't know what GM can do about it.

First goal, individual mistake, 2nd goal, individual mistake, 3rd goal, lucky deflection,  on another day we get something out of this game..

There is so much unforgivable stuff just in that highlights videos, what do they do in training all week?!

I hate to be so down, but at no point were we ever in this game to get anything on another day. It could have been so much worse.

You could say GM was guilty of given the midweek side the run out after the defeat of Hull, but after a win like that it would of been very difficult to drop anyone bar giving TA some respite after player the full match.

I'm sure if he had his time again he would be pragmatic and play a side closer to the team against Harrogate.

When you look at those goals the big thing you can take away from it right off is them running clean through our midfield, again no cover provided for the defence. I'm sure Bailey would of been better served dropping into midfield after the first goal with Nixon coming on at right back. Biggins and Broadbent could not get on the ball and when they did they could not (like most of the team find a pass)

The two young wingers looked like they had played one ,match to many this week, Roberts was suffering from cramp for a good deal of the second half, Degi held up better but got too ball greedy when he had good opportunities to play someone else in.Looks like he could be very promising but needs to learn to prioritise when to go and when to play it simple.

We looked anaemic again up front bacause of the badly functioning midfield, we desperately needed someone to put their foot on the ball and try to control play.

Only bright spark for me was Faal who looked very promising, a neat touch for a big man, won his share of headers and tried to bring others into the play.

We live and learn, GM is still trying to find the right balance, just needs to be given time, we're far from a dead loss.

I assume you weren't at the game. We were miles off getting any kind of result from today's game.

The first goal was right in front of me I thought on first viewing Olowu was shoved but on the highlights it appeared he was just out muscled. We were pathetic from back to front with invisible men in the midfield.

Kamikaze defending, as poor as it gets. All the players looked off the pace and not fit enough. Wood looked his age in this game. We didn’t get near enough to the opposition.
There has to be a few changes after that game.
That was nowhere near good enough.

Olowu obviously had last weeks penalty decision on his mind and was reluctant to dive in and make the initial challenge which was a mistake and it cost him unfortunately. Routine save was not made by Lawlor for the 2nd and if this had been Mitchell he would have been slaughtered on here. I wasn't at the game so I can't comment on overall performances but let's just see where we are in 10 games and reserve judgement until then. I remember getting stupidly carried away myself last season after the Grimsby game pretty much hailing Schofield as the new Messiah!

I think the obvious problem in both of the league games was that we have absolutely no idea how to deal with the press. Harrogate and Newport both pressed us whenever we had the ball and we aren’t good enough to play around it.

Looking at those goals, it was bad day at the office and some obvious mistakes that on another day wouldn’t have happened.

I want to see solid performances every week.

Not necessarily winning, as often you don't always win games you should.

That should be the benchmark. That makes you enjoy watching.

It's hard to understand why we have been so well beaten in both league games.
The squad has far more quality in depth than last season when we were frequently fielding players on low wages. The investment is obvious to see and we have an experienced manager who has a good record. I fully expect us to improve as the season wears on, I predict that we will be the top half after 10 games and to make the playoffs. Barring the injury curse that is.

It’s early days and it’s always difficult to account for individual errors. But I was hoping we’d start the season better having sorted our transfers early you’d think we’d be well drilled as a team and not need as many games to get going.

3 v 5 in midfield is never a good mix, especially when our midfield isn’t yet functioning properly. I sincerely hope we have, at least, 1 physical specimen lined up before the window shuts!

Branton I thought exactly the same - were you on the back row with your good lady ?
