Title: Ironside

Magnificent tonight, won almost everything in the air and got nothing from the ref when he was constantly fouled

Without a shadow of a doubt the best Centre Forward display by a Rover for many years - great finish for a well deserved goal - he tore Aidan Flint a new &rsehole all evening

Outstanding tonight, made flint look average, just needed. Little more support, he won all the first headers but no one around him to challenge for the 2nd balls.

MOTM tonight

Made Flint look average? I thought Flint looks absolutely class, what a signing for this level.

Ironside outstanding though, they both played well.

He was excellent 2nd half and was in the right place for his goal.
I said on another thread I thought he wasn't great in the first half so I was pleased his hold up play and flick ones improved loads

We have problems getting people around him to take advantage. To win games you have to make runs and take a chance. Decent result against a well established side, at this level, at home though it should be a win if you want to do well.

He was excellent throughout. Held the ball up well. Won his headers - and directed them to a team mate!

Thoroughly deserved his goal and was easily Rovers best player.

The benefit of signing proven quality?

Miller should have paid attention to that performance. Joe is only 5’11 but is one tough b*stard and amazing in the air for that height.

Did nobody see the punch thrown at Anderson, first half, that went totally unpunished? I thought it was a red card, personally.

He had a poor debut against Harrogate but looked much better today. Battled for everything and took his goal well.

We need to find a way of getting more service to him though, he was feeding off scraps for the most part.

We saw last night the complete centre forward performance - it’s going back a long way since we had a centre forward who competed so thoroughly with defenders. Not since Dave ‘Bruno’ Jones have we had such a physical frontman.

Much improved bringing the ball under control and linking things up. Our players need to anticipate better to support him so he can control and pass without having to take two, three or more touches before deciding who to pass to. This will hopefully come with practice and repetition.
