We are a million miles from it, that was shit
-
Offer me 22nd now and id take it, and im not joking.
Harrogate were better than us opening day, and our last 3 opponents have outclassed us.
Very very worried about where we are heading. Midfield and defence is an absolute joke.
-
Wasn’t expecting promotion if I’m honest, but I was expecting better football.
COYR
-
Never ever thought we were promotion material, but our early showings confirm we’re likely to have a struggle again. Absolutely clueless.
McCann needs to be battering the Chairman’s door down, as the midfield is devoid of everything - just embarrassingly poor.
And as for setting up 3v4 to start with leaves a lot to be desired. I thought he was smarter than that!
-
I think we've potential. Even with a poor performance we still on another day score 3. There's positives in the negatives.
I don't think we have either bad players or a bad manager. But you have to worry if he can get them playing and I'm not really sure what will get them going. Echoes of Sod's promotion season for me. I feel it will click I'm just not sure how.
4 games in and we're seeing the mentality of the players tested, that's worrying.
-
We didn’t have a shot on target until about 75 mins in and then the ones we did have were crap other than Deji. Can’t see how we would have got 3 today
-
We are a million miles from it, that was shit
We’re closer to National League than L1 .
-
Deji had the lame first shot, joenjad a worse shot when one on one, faal, had a lame easy shot which the keeper parried.. there's your 3 goal worthy efforts..
-
The one that Ironside missed was embarrassingly bad (for him).
He only had to lift the ball over the keeper after it sat up in front of him.

Embarrassing yourself quoting a league table after 4 games.
-
Just reminding you. So you don't forget that prediction.
-
Similar fantasists this summer as last, predicting going up as champions. My best guess is we will end up better than last season, but that’s a low bar. The squad is better and more cohesive and the manager much better, but this is not 2018/19.

Absolutely pathetic.
And I’m not referring to Harrogate.

Pancho.
When people make wild claims, they need to stand by them. And perhaps reflect on whether the other person has a point.
-
Promotion…. We’ll be lucky to finish top half

BST
And when people make negative comments about the team they ‘support’ after only a handful of games under a new manager and with a large number of new players, they need to reflect on the fact that others may perceive them to be unreasonably critical.
I have the growing feeling that it’s more important to you that you are proved right and that we fail, rather than we succeed and prove you wrong.
Meanwhile, I’ll keep supporting my team.
-
Pancho
I've supported this club through thick and thin for half a century. I don't need any lectures on that subject from you, ta very much.
But "supporting" doesn't equate to blindly ignoring bleeding obvious deficiencies. It doesn't mean howling at anyone who does see those. If it does, you've got a whole pile of people to pick a fight with on here.
In the specific case you've picked up on here, I got a pile of abuse for giving my opinion that we were dreadful against Harrogate. Dickos chided me for saying that Harrogate will be in a relegation fight and insisted that they'll be in the top 10. I'd like him to reflect on that. If you reckon that is "pathetic" that's your choice.
-
And yeah, I sat through the match today just willing us to be shite, because it is so important to me to be right.
Really. Honestly. You've got me bang to rights.
Christ, this place....

Your true colours are showing BST. I realise that is probably uncomfortable for you.
And thanks for pointing out that it’s my choice to view your comments as pathetic.
I’ll take that.
-
The thing is BST, everyone knows we are shite at the moment, and we're all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up to the stars.
Why are you knocking those that are doing so?

‘Christ this place…’
Do yourself & others on here who have also ‘supported the club for half a century’ & take yourself & your negativity, statistics, holier than thou attitude elsewhere.
Me, Pancho, BB & the like will continue to take the rough with the smooth as we have through the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & 2000’s.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.

We need some shoots of optimism to cling onto. There just aren’t many around. To lose to Notts County at home, by two clear goals isn’t acceptable. Getting tonked at Newport by a lower half standard team definitely isn’t.
He has a hell of a lot of work to do, on the training ground. Absolutely abysmal start to a season, that started off with many of us full of optimism, after quite a while putting up with drudgery.

Pancho.

I am standing by what I said. Where have I back tracked?
I haven’t, you just keep bringing it up after every game embarrassing yourself
-
It’s 4 games. So no need to overreact yet. However, the worrying thing for me is that the majority of these players (both last seasons and the new signings) don’t look anywhere near the level required. We’ve got 1 point and 3 of those games were at home.
The usual suspects that are refusing to accept what is becoming quite obvious for the sake of just winding people up on here (the distinct lack of quality) is odd. McCann might be able to turn it around. But he isn’t a miracle worker.
-
Well that’s exactly the point, he isn’t a miracle worker so why are people going mad after only 4 games.

I think it’s to do with the shock of how bad we’ve actually been. We’ve been so far away from every team we’ve played it’s been a huge shock to the system.

To be fair, you also said we wouldn’t get relegated from league 1 with 5 games to go when it was blinding obvious to everyone else we would. Forgive me for putting any faith into anything you say. I think you just enjoy attention and one way of getting that is to be radically different. I can live with positivity, but it needs to be balanced with reality

The attackers and 2 right backs are an upgrade.
But for McCann to complain about anything else is like complaining that your subway sandwich is shit. Even though you’ve picked the bread, filling, salad and sauce yourself.

I said we wouldn’t get relegated?
I don’t think I did,
I don’t really care if you’re not taking any notice of what I say, and I’m certainly not radically different from most rationale people.
To be so positive about the season and then now going on like it’s the worst side we’ve ever had after 4 league games is pathetic

Not going to argue dickos, because you will always maintain you are right but you did remain convinced we wouldn’t be relegated right up to the end. Can’t be bothered to look for posts because I’m not all that bothered to be fair.
Like I’ve said, there’s no need to massively overreact, but I also get some of the reaction as the 4 games we’ve played so far (3 of them at home) have been pathetic performances, possibly Mansfield aside (although we were clearly second best and got away with it). That cannot be disputed, even by you.
-
Harrogate wasn’t pathetic.
We created more chances, dangerous situations in that game than we have in the rest combined
-
I've fairly easily just found of post from Feb 22 of Dickos saying he thinks we'll stay up... Despite at that point we were 19 points adrift.
-
So I thought we would and by the looks of it we clawed 17 points back in the remaining 2 months of the season. So almost did it.
Wasn’t that bad of a prediction
-
It was criminal that we technically took it to the last game of that season. We were utterly diabolical.
-
Two weeks in and we are already talking about injuries.
Has any team, in any division ever been so blighted with injuries. Season in and season out?
-
We need to put this one to rest. Our injuries are average to any other team. Mansfield took 3 off with injuries on Tuesday, for example. We've got a big squad for this league and it's by no means depleted.

The bigger question is: who of the injured players would make a significant improvement, in this formation, over the XI that started yesterday?
-
I was expecting promotion or else I wouldn't have backed you so heavily. McCann wouldn't have been my first choice but he's proven as a decent manager. Let's hope things click sooner rather than later.
-
On paper, Close would bring more progression and control, but hasn’t to date in his career with us managed a single standout performance. Anyone expecting him to turn this underperforming midfield around single-handedly is fantasy.
