Whatever the result in next year's US Election, I fear this one is going to be front and centre of right wing US politics for years.
Apparently he wowed everybody in the Republican Presidential Candidates debate last night.
I saw him being interviewed by Tucker Carlson recently. He's basically the living, walking, smooth talking, sharp suit wearing embodiment of every batshit conspiracy theory you've ever heard.
He thinks 9/11, COVID vaccines and climate change are all part of Govt plots. He thinks "Woke Capitalism" is destroying America. He goes out of his way to justify the actions of the people who tried to stage a coup on 6 Jan 2021.
He's Trump on steroids, but much more suave and probably without the need to f**k porn stars then commit crimes to hush them up.
I fear that the US Right is lost to the rational world for another generation and we are going to see a succession of suave chancers like this one trying to ride the tiger.

Got me bang to rights.
Trouble is, 10s of millions of people in the USA get their world view shaped through his lens. I do a lot of work with Americans. I do need to understand them.

He's very clever.
He pushes the line over and over again "The Govt lied to us about 9/11". That establishes the headline. When he gets into detail, a long time later, he's claiming that there was an issue with a Saudi intelligence agent in California that the FBI didn't admit was an intelligence agent. It's 2nd and 3rd order stuff, but he presents it very skillfully as a "They will deceive you" theme on something as big as this. It's sophisticated stuff.

I once heard an apparently true story about Billy Cotton presenting a radio show, and accidently saying "now here's one for all Sophie F*cker tans".
After the show, which had gone out live, Billy apparently asked the producer "do you think anyone noticed?".

The Republican Party has gone full on batshit. Sooner or later one of the headcases is going to win the Presidency and not have any grown ups at his side. Then the real problem for us on this side of the pond starts - America has a President who says "Not our job to keep Russia in its box anymore."
Ramaswamy is trying that tune.
He'll not win this time but someone like him will eventually.

It may seem churlish to ask European nations to pay the going rate for their own security after many years of virtually expecting the US to pick up the tab and the UK to provide them with technical advice, intel and boots on the ground,but is this not the grand plan of the EU to have its own security service at hand? I'm thinking when this does finally materialise we can expect ww3 to follow on very soon behind it. When you look at the pontificating puffed up peacocks trying to exert influence in that direction the only thing that will follow is Armageddon.
Regardless of what flavour the US government is it will eventually lead to European nations having to make up the current shortfall in defence spending, the current situation will not be tolerated by the next presidency.
