Good to see Maxwell back in the side.  Olowu needs to impress today . Looks like a 4-4-2 with Rowe on the wing

I would be surprised if we go 4-4-2.
More likely Faal and Sotona supporting Ironside, coming in from wide positions.

Yeah, looks like:

Bailey Oluwu Wood Senior Maxwell

      Sotana Broadbent Rowe

             Ironside Faal

Hard to say what’s right. Maxwell at LWB with Senior centre back in a 3. Assume Bailey would be right wing back then which takes out our strongest midfielder

Or left footer playing right back. Don’t bat an eyelid when it’s a right rooter at left back to cover just seems weird when it’s the other way round

So many players at fault for that goal but somehow Wood will get the blame from some. Olowu doesn’t need to get dragged towards the ball when Wood is pushing the player out wide. Sonata is such a luxury player and will not defend. It’s shocking defending again and again.

It’s a genuine mystery. McCann is a very good manager for this level and we’ve turned over the squad, seemingly spending decent money to do this.

It’s the same old problems though. Defensively an absolute joke, lack of energy and desire, no cohesion. Week in, week out. Wellens, McSheffrey, Schofield and McCann.

Who have we spent money on? We have signed a lot of players from clubs lower down the pyramid who will be happy to increase their wages slightly and have a crack at the football league. It’s ok signing 12 players but none of them apart from Ironside, Wood and maybe Sterry will be on competitive wages even for league two.

Do we need a defensive coach? We shouldn’t do with McCann as manager and Wood’s experience but it seems like we’re conceding pub team goals every week.

If you were being generous you could say that injuries forced us to go 3 at back, and trusting Sotana to be a right wing back was always going to be a disaster, as the first goal proved. Video failed for second goal but appeared to be us getting out jumped from set piece, which is poor.

I'm very much an amateur punter since retiring and now only have a Betfair account. I generally use it to lay what I consider to be overpriced horses, which I'm pretty good at.
Not looking for 6 team accas, just a double/treble that'll buy me a few beers and maybe a bag of chips when it comes to footy.

Colchester now 2-0 up. If we don't win, we're bottom again.

We will be rock bottom come 5pm. I hope that starts to focus minds. We are wildly, wildly inconsistent in performances between and within games. Too often a soft touch, no solidity, always and without exception, always chasing the game and never setting the pace.

89' | A great move from Rovers as Jack Senior successfully chases after the ball on the left and crosses to Mo Faal, but he can't guide home.

2-1

90' | Quick, one touch stuff from Rovers sees Tommy Rowe take on a first time shot but it's wide.

2-1

Would be a good match to at least draw - given where MK are....

Over 60% possession more shots more shots on target, are we just unlucky today?

No we are not unlucky. We are so so poor defensively. It’s basic errors and poor concentration. Until that improves we will continue to be “unlucky”

Tremendous 2nd half effort. Once again, individual mistakes have cost us here.

A better second half performance but individual errors have cost us dearly. On to Wednesday

Onwards and upwards

A great second half performance but unless we eliminate those perpetual errors in defence, we will continue to end up without a positive result.

Bizzarely that didn’t feel like a defeat . A very positive first 15 and second half . Corner after corner at the end and I thought we would back a draw . Faal is a Reyt acquisition and my mom. Tyler Roberts made a diff in the right hand side when he came on. Tommy Rowe looked like he had a slight limp when he came off
