Tonight’s line up:
-
Senior and Olowu as centre backs? Then the three dwarves in midfield against Onana (6”4) and Doucouré (6”1).
-
Or a back 3 of Senior Olowu and Maxwell?
-
Looking at that setup I can only assume we're concentrating on the League and saving out best for the weekend.

Not really, only wood who is kn the bench is a regular starter,
Reckon mccann knows wood is too slow for this and left him out, this looks a more attacking set up to me
-
Certainly looks an attack minded lineup but dreading the fact that defence is a disaster or two waiting to happen. Can only see the Everton forwards having a field day.
-
Defence looks experimental and this is clearly not a game to be experimenting. Midfield will get overrun immediately so add that to the defensive experiment means we are going to be on back foot from the off.
-
How has Olowu f**ked that chance?
-
Games like this usually deliver very few chances. f**k them up and they don’t come round again.
-
Decent first 10 I think
-
Very good start from us. Faal should have forced that headed chance with more aggression.
-
Great start but we will run out of juice come second half so we need to have something soon to show for it.
-
20 mins and pretty even I’d say so far
-
We are having to do alot of running off the ball, worried bout running out of gas here
-
If anything Rovers looking the better team currently, this is what we want, Rovers becoming more confident in themselves.
-
Playing well but Faal has given the ball away literally every time. Needs to learn to pass
-
I’m watching the game in deepest, darkest South London with Spurs, West Ham and Palace fans. The comments so far are “how the f**k are you bottom of the whole league?” That’s nice to hear but got to be the kiss of death!
-
Great start (apart from Faal, f**k me).
-
Definitely the better team and should be at least one goal up. Faal currently looks a terrible signing, his touch looks poor and seems scared to head a ball. Hope it's just a confidence thing.
-
The one thing I’m getting from the game so far is that we’ve finally found the right formation
-
We've been excellent so far.
-
Faal is one of them that can look like Bambi one second a world beater the next
-
We've been excellent so far.
It's enjoyable so far
-
Making up for lack of quality in midfield with numbers
-
Faal is one of them that can look like Bambi one second a world beater the next
He’s like a cross between Leo Fortune-West and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas
-
Making up for lack of quality in midfield with numbers
Needs must DU but at present it’s working and must be a better solution against lesser opponents in the League
-
Why can't we play like this in the league
-
Faal is one of them that can look like Bambi one second a world beater the next
I'm waiting for the world beater part.
-
Wow Ironsides!
-
1-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Gerriiinn
-
We deserve the lead. Brilliant half!
-
Hahahah well deserved. If that was Goodison VAR would have chalked it off
-
Fantastic let's do this boys
-
A foot onside on my telly. [Insert pinocchio emoji]
-
Rowe unlucky not to make it two
-
great half from Rovers - well deserved 1-0 lead. Everton outplayed all over pitch and only 1 shot on target.
-
hopefully Faal can get a bit more involved 2nd half
-
Entertaining, positive, energetic, and winning. What's not to like?
-
Goal very offside but tough shit!
-
Why can't we play like this in the league
Play against ‘Greased up Pigs ‘ in the league!
-
Everton been drinking same energy drinks we normally use in league. Two yards off pace at best.
-
Wow, at last a half of football from the rovers to make you proud. Hope we don’t sit back too deep too early this half
-
From the Everton forum.....
Only one team has wanted to win this, we have been outplayed, outfought, outthought, and basically played off the park. We can not pass a ball, lost count of the times a ball has been fired to another player or played just behind him. It's pure panic, the ball is a hot potato. Chermiti has looked like a novice, bullied all through the first half. Dobbin like Rabbit in the headlights, Keane has been his usual, pathetic coward of a man, get off and don't come back. How can a lower level team look fitter, stronger and more calm on the ball ?
-
3 changes for Everton
-
3 subs coming onthis could be interesting
-
Looking at Everton, they have given us too much space at times. I imagine Dyche will have noticed and they will be more fired up for the 2nd half, more in our faces. Also, they're likely to make more space for themselves, try to keep possession.
Just hoping our fitness lasts. Fingers crossed!
-
£28 million Beto coming on, we must have shaken them up
-
Beto looks an absolute unit.

Back to being TLO Doncaster! Brilliant!
-
Beto new and improved faal

“usual pathetic, coward of a man”
That cuts deep. Jesus.
-
What does Sotana look like in this game? Bring him on at any stage could be absolute chaos.
-
Everton have certainly started better in this half
-
Think faal needs to come off done nothing so far
-
Deffo handball
-
If var offside goal ruled out and that would have been a penalty so evened it out so far
-
Definitely and a possible red has he stopped a clear goal opportunity
-
Olowu is having a great game
-
Betting on Rovers winning has gone from 10/1 against at the start of this match to 11/10 now. Something has changed their mind!
-
Faal needs to come off. Maybe Sotona to come on
-
Got to take him off. He's not even pressing.
-
“Attack is the secret of defense; defense is the planning of an attack.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
-
Faal needs to come off. Maybe Sotona to come on
I’d back this. Everton won’t have a clue how to handle him. We don’t so they can’t possibly.
-
Everton fans getting increasingly peed off
-
Could do with some pace coming on to get us out.
But I ain't a manager. Leave that to grant
-
Gutted I couldn’t make this one. Listening on radio sounds like we’re flagging a bit and looking tired
-
We’re really struggling now. If we end up defending then we will lose. The lad they brought on is making this a different game.
-
Roberts for Rowe. Surprised Faal still on.
-
Faal needs to start using them legs to out pace his man
-
Beto!
 :crying:
-
Bugger!
-
May as well get Sotana on now. We can’t defend this out.
-
Bugger but it was coming
-
Get faal off walking around up front no closing down just doesn't seem to care
-
They have had to fetch a £26 million player on.
-
Delighted to be proved wrong but this has absolutely every appearance of the bigger side scoring late in game to win. Only one side I think likely to score now. Question is whether we can withstand the huge pressure they will put us under in last 5-10 minutes to see this to penalties.
-

A bit harsh.

Or a final minute mess of a goal for the "small" side!
-
We playing like Everton were in the 1st half
-
We look absolutely f**ked. Having no fit central midfielder to bring on shows.
-
Looking v tired, making mistakes, losing the ball far too easily.
-
Whatever happens many positives tonight
-
The premier league lads down here saying we are playing too ‘honestly’. Everton know how to win those 50/50 challenges to get a free kick.
-
Fitness needs looking at. Been a common theme so far this season
Can forgive it this game but sounds like we’ve faded earlier than you’d expect
-
Come on rovers just need that one chance
-
The lads have done us proud tonight whatever happens.
-

We are playing against a ‘fresh’ premier league forward here. Give ‘em a break eh?
-
Ah well, a great dream while it lasted

Afraid this was always going to happen really. We ran out of steam some time ago. Let’s keep it at 2-1 and walk away with head held high.
-
From the Guardian live
''Hats off to Beto, who didn’t let that awful shanked effort bother him. Having scored the equaliser with a cute flick of the boot, he’s now hammered a shot off the crossbar. He looks a player of extreme highs and lows. Another agent of chaos on Merseyside? What an entertainer''
-
Nothing to be ashamed of we’ve given them a game but those missed chances are coming back to haunt us
-
It’s absolutely template cup game featuring big / small club. With predictable result.
We need to capture best of this and take it to the Swindon game. Fear is that we are now so knackered chasing this that it will be very flat on Saturday.
-
''GOAL! Doncaster 1-2 Everton (Danjuma 88). Beto’s scored his first goal for Everton tonight; now it’s Arnaut Danjuma’s turn! He cuts in from the left, drops a shoulder to make space, and whips a low shot into the bottom left. Everton have turned it around, and in some style it has to be said. As superb in the second half as they were dreadful in the first''
-
Is that 2 goals scored by a combined 45 million give or take? Hard to get too upset about that.
Sounds like we've given them a really good game and done ourselves proud. Sorry I couldn't be there.
-
This has been a fantastic boost for this team, just what the doctor ordered for GM and the fans. It has to bode well for the upcoming games.
-
Play like this in the league and we soon start climbing up it, no shame played brilliant
-
Can’t help but feel Sotana should have come on earlier
-
Can’t help but feel Sotana should have come on earlier
This sounds right but I suspect McCann was fearful about his inability to retain possession. He can inflict serious damage, but playing against Everton this might have been more against us than them.
-
Struggle to see why Faal stayed on as long as he did, didn't do anything all match. However, that's surely got to give the players a boost as for 50 mins of that match we were by far the better team in every area. Nothing to be ashamed off at all.

Faal was excellent against mk
-
Thought faal was excellent again
-
Proud of the performance tonight and a pity we couldn’t see the game out.
I would have used our substitutes much earlier when legs were tiring. Faal was ineffective in the second half and Setona or Roberts would have given us more up front from 60 minutes.
At 1-1 after 80 minutes, I did not feel that we could win the game so should have made sure we didn’t lose and played for penalties - that would have meant bringing on Richard Wood. He hasn’t had the best of starts this season but perhaps his experience would have enabled us to see the game out.
-
Faal will be a very good player, right now his decision making can be off but that will come with experience.
-
Faal was my only negative in an otherwise fantastic team performance.
I thought he was sloppy and languid in possession and didn't have that bite that his teammates had out of possession.
Proud to be Rover tonight though, hopefully the lads will take confidence in that performance and carry it on into bread and butter of the league
-
They have had to fetch a £26 million player on.
bought the game
-
I thought Faal did OK. Him and Joe made nuisances of themselves up front and he saw a lot of the ball. His first touch was lacking tonight, but he still did enough in that first half to be a proper thorn in their side. Faded badly in the 2nd half, but he's not had the same pre-season as everyone else. Should have come off earlier. Taking Rowe off was the killer. We lost the midfield and handed the impetus away. Probably needed to be done though as Rowe had his best (and most industrious) game in a Rovers shirt for probably 2 years, and our injury situation left us thin of options.
-
Excited to see an Ironside and Miller front 2.
