Title: Covid
Post by: scawsby steve on September 17, 2023, 07:38:12 pm
I'm putting this on the football forum, lads, to let those of you who were at FGR yesterday know how lucky you are.

I was going to go, but changed my mind in the week. I tested positive for Covid today. If I'd have been there, I'd have infected the bloody lot of you when Ben scored that screamer.

They were giving numbers of cases on the news last week and it felt like it was going to start all over again. Seemed like they were slipping it in on the sly!

Will I still need my Autumn jab?

I visited the Lakeside shopping centre yesterday morning and there was a really long queue for the vaccination place they have.
It reminded me of how things were a couple of years ago.

They said two weeks ago it was over 65’s and the vulnerable. I’m 54 and got a message from the docs with a link to book for a jab late last week.
It does make you think somethings going on.

Get well soon SS.

Thanks, BB. I think me being a young man might help with my recovery.

Nah, if you had been there you would have jinxed us and we would probably have lost!

All the best for a quick and full recovery tho SS so you are back to full fighting fitness to cheer them on to the next win.

I got my second dose of Covid in February , really ill for 10 days then seemed ok then After a few weeks, got really bad Gastric flu, then a few weeks later had another illness, clearly I didn't bounce back as I thought.

Had a next day appointment for a Covid jab last Thursday. When I asked what vaccine it was, the jabber told me it was the latest Pfizer vaccine which has been updated to treat new strains which they think are imminent.

Again this might be a place to say apologies to Coach 4 , esp those sat just around me

I sniffed the whole time , on bus , in services and in Ground. I got on my own nerves but I don't have COVID

I had or have some kind of Sinus trouble and if it hadn't been long arranged and I was going by myself I wouldn't have gone

So I'm sorry all but I don't have COVID , in fact never had it yet as far as I know

Working in a hospital, let me tell you that cases have been significantly on the rise for the last month, especially amongst staff.  Go steady out there folks!

Yes and amazing to think that West Broms Ground is higher above sea level eh ?

Saw FGR advertising they were one of the Highest Grounds but not claiming the records itself.

List of Grounds in order

1    The Hawthorns    West Bromwich Albion    552
2    Boundary Park    Oldham Athletic            526
3    Vale Park    Port Vale                                    520
4    The Crown Ground    Accrington Stanley    516
5    Moss Rose    Macclesfield Town            513
6    Spotland    Rochdale                                    498
7    Molineux    Wolverhampton Wanderers    483
8    St Andrews    Birmingham City            432
9    The Britannia Stadium    Stoke City    431
10    Adams Park    Wycombe Wanderers    413

Point of order FGR is not on that list and it is I believe 500 plus feet.
In fact I find there is a dispute on FGR v WBA  being the highest above Sea Level. They need to measure this on each Grounds Centre spot

I wonder if when they measured the height of FGR's ground the tide was in?

I don't know about football grounds, but Wolfie's well above sea level, that's for sure.

That may explain the huge camber from the centre of the pitch to both sides.
I went down to pitch side before the game to look from pitch level and couldn’t see the touchline on the other side.
