Anybody that's thinking about it I recommend give it a go.  These last few weeks they have been playing some brilliant stuff.  So many near misses in recent years, it feels like this might finally be our time.

Club Doncaster have missed a trick. Could have sold combo tickets this weekend for Rovers and Dons.

£30 would have been a fair price for an adult  £20 Kids and Seniors.

Maybe the gate receipts have to be shared with their opponents and RFL get a cut making it a non starter.

Years since I've been to a Dons match, after barely missing a game at Tattersfield for many years in the days of Tony Banham and Dave Varey and Stuart Piper.

Got tickets for today's game and I've surprised myself how fired up I am for this one.

Come ON Dons!

Knew Tommy Morton well in his time as secretary at the Yarbrough Soc. Club Bentley Rd. when I played there in various groups etc. He had a long suffering time with the Dons at Tatters Field. Used to see him outside his gate on Bentley Rd. quite often, or picked him up at the bus stop and dropped him off in town. Always nice to have a chat with him now and again. Haven't seen him in some while now. Hope he'd be happy with the situation the Dons are in, and wish them the best of luck for today. COYD's.

Bloody hell, FR, you're not doing BST any favours there. I reckon he'll only be in his 50s. The Dons were in the old York Road Greyhound Stadium before they moved to Tattersfield in the early 50s.

Even I was only a toddler at the time.

I think you'd be better off asking BB and Wolfie.

I went and really enjoyed the game. A few observations the ref has much more respect from the players than in football, the linesmen cover the whole length of the pitch not just their one half , both sets of fans sitting together no trouble whatsoever, although I am tea total myself fans sitting pitch side with a beer, on full time although a tremendous win not one fan ran on to the pitch, at final hooter both teams really congratulated their team mates and opposition with genuine handshakes and condolences, when subs were made the game was not stopped player walked/ ran off new player took their place , when someone was injured they were treated on the pitch whilst the game carried on football could learn a lot from rugby league

No , we were born in same year but I only remember them at Tattersfield against Rochdale Hornets , Whitehaven , Blackpool Borough plus the big boys of course

I remember plenty of Speedway at York Road but that's for another day

So we'll done Dons

I remember they let 2 people try a Start one time in the pre Race period ( think it was 2 )

One was a "well built" gentleman who revved the bike massively then dropped the clutch , whereupon the bike pulled a colossal wheelie and he fell off backwards and the bike continued skywards before dropping back to earth right on top of him

I didn't see them try it again lol

Be interesting to see what sort of invest will be put in, as in football the championship is worlds apart to League 1, should get a few more in the Eco-power though with decent away followings.

I've thought for a long time, BST, that thee and me must have come across each other aeons ago. If you were a regular at Tattersfield in the days of Dave Varey, Tony Banham, George Pflaster & Stuart Piper, then at the very least we must have known each other by sight. Ketch Smith? John Boulton? Ring any bells?

Bloody hell Bedale!! Wow! Please, please, say hi from me to the pair of 'em. Not seen either in decades but they and I and a few others used to get pissed around the Market Place on Saturday nights (remember the absolutely amazingly shit Magdalene - literally! - but which had a great pint of Tetleys?) Sundays was Tattersfield. Almost religious in our attendance. I used to love Dave Varey...

I spent a year in west London with JohnB while he was a postgrad at LSE and I was at London.. We found a bloody great Fullers pub in the back streets behind the BBC not far from Loftus Road. Ended up regulars there too. Ask John what diet he adopted while we were there....

Keith was a good cricketer. Fast bowler who could bat. Ask him about the Lotus outside that nightclub that used to be on top of the Co-Op building. Lol. I forget its name now. I bet he hasn't though!

Cheers

BobG

PS. Just remembered.  John and I were at Stamford Bridge to see Peter Kitchen dribble,  score and win the FA Cup tie for Orient. Naturally we had a post match celebration... Trouble was,  after closing time, my reenactment of Kitch's beautiful goal on the pavement outside White City tube station, didn't go to plan. The pavement didn't play fair. A bit Micky Droy.  I ended up spending bloody hours in Hammersmith hospital A&E. It took months and months for my ankle to get properly better. John'll probably remember more...

Bob

PPS. Watching QPR that season, the season after they so nearly won the Football League, let me regularly enjoy the best midfield I have ever seen: Francis, Masson and Bowles. Just bloody awesome they were. They had everything.

Right on every count, Bob.

I've just checked, and it all happened in 1972. Marsh to Man City for £200,000; Bowles from Carlisle to QPR for £110,000.

I once read buying Rodney Marsh cost Man City the title that season because had to justify his purchase by playing him every week thus changing personnel and formation.
Stan Bowles was a far better player and still a fan’s favourite at QPR, he’s not very well, he’s got Alzheimer’s disease

Back to the Dons - a constructive suggestion for the Mods - given the Club Doncaster model, and seeing the Belles have their own section, would it be a good idea to create a similar Dons section, especially with likely increased interest next season?

Edit: Reposted on Form Issues section

Looks a strong league next season does the championship , my own Wakefield Trinity with new HC Daryl Powell plus a £1.5m playing budget provided by the new owner .

Featherstone have just buggered it right up by losing the semi final to London Broncos and will remain in the championship .

Bradford Bulls , Widnes and Halifax make up the proper club fraternity in the championship .

Dons season tickets for 2024 are a bargain, silly cheap!

https://www.doncasterrugbyleague.co.uk/article/1537/news-%7C-season-tickets-2024

£99 if bought before the end of November (£145 afterwards).

Anyone buying before end of October also gets some nice little things thrown in including a Doncaster Rovers Five Match Package worth £90 and free access to Doncaster Rovers Belles’ remaining home league games for the 23/24 season.

Season tickets are decent price.Match day tickets are not so cheap at £22.They did it last time the Dons went up. They put the match day ticket up a fiver. When they went down the year after they took a quid off.

They’re still one of the cheapest match day prices in the division, some places are £25 standing.

I’d assume most people would get the £18 match tickets in advance too

Cashing in on the away fans next season from Halifax,Bradford and Featherstone. But if the Dons go back down again Ihope they take the £7 and the £3 back off the ticket price because they did'nt last time.
