I just saw the news about his death.

Am I right in thinking that it was him and Ian McKellen that turned up one night in the Coal Hole pub on The Strand the night of a London Rover supporters monthly get-together and were curious about the Rovers shirts and ended up sinking a few and being good company?

RIP Michael, I always recall the scene from “The Singing Detective’ where he is laid in Hospital Bed suffering from a skin problem, a bad case of psoriasis and the nurse comes in with a big plastic tub of Vaseline to ‘GREASE him up !’
