Senior at left back of a back 4 or part of a back 3 with Anderson and Bailey?

Or fluid switching between the two?

I just remembered earlier in the season seeing a very very fast right winger playing for Grimsby who THEN looked decent hope he's not playing but there again earlier in the season we thought Sotana (?)was fast and decent

Great to see Hurst on Bench. Hope senior comes through ok, as it’s his first start since injury. Confident of a better defensive display today.

My worry at the moment is we seem to have a lack of pace today

Grimsby all over us at the moment

There’s more Grimsby supporters here than Rovers!  It’s very dull, a poor game and Grimsby look look better and more dangerous than we are.

Good save by Jones from a great chance for  Holohan the Grimsby player.  He was clean through.

2 poor sides. We look clueless.

I think a mistake will decide the match.

Nothing to cheer at all.

At least we've got a clean sheet so far.
Maybe with your bowel movement that's not the case!

Our passing has gone all awry again. Can’t seem to find each other or win a second ball. Rovers look very nervous today - no idea why.

We really need a different plan for the second half. Radical change required.

First game I'd really say the injuries are notable.  We need some flair in this formation and we lack it. Senior is too defensive in this setup.  With faal and Hurst on the bench you'd think they're options.

Very poor game.  There’s no entertainment.  McCann has to kick their arses and change tactics for second half or he’ll lose the support.

Perhaps he’s having a quiet game but Faal’s started!

I have a horrible feeling our recent down turn in form is due to me putting a bet on the Rovers. I knew I shouldn’t have tempted fate!!

Faal and Ironside largely anonymous, but then Rovers have struggled to put together a coordinated attack in that half. It needs a switch around and different tactics after half time. Hope GM manages it.

Apart from the chance Ironside had 1st half, they have had no service at all.

Hurst gave us that spark, he scared them to death, which got us over the line. Ground that one out, players looked knackered, however how Faal didn’t score and Baileys fantastic shot tipped onto the bar could have made it a bigger score line.
Clean sheet too!!! Though Oluwu did his best to chuck it all away, got a bit of a nerve celebrating at the end, his best contribution was sat on the bench, and long may that continue.

A win’s a win, but without the aid of rose-tinted specs, that was a poor game. First half was all huff and puff. Second half a bit better, but we struggled to put anything cohesive together.

Please for Hurst and he’ll be a welcome addition. Fall looked cream crackered all game! Let’s see what Moly and Ironside injuries are - please, not more on the treatment table for weeks on end.
Title: Re: OD V Cod Heads
Post by: monkeytennis on October 28, 2023, 06:03:35 pm
Yeah not a great performance by any means. We were sharper and brighter in the second half and Hurst made an impact but they deserved a 0-0 there really.

Still, in previous seasons we’d have folded there and not been able to hang onto the lead so I’ll take that.

A hard fought victory, had nil, nil all over it for most of the game. Think a penalty was the only way either team was going to score today.

On to the FA Cup next Saturday
