Just seen on Facebook that he was at the Bolton vs Solihull game yesterday. Strange game to be at considering we won’t be playing any of them, he’s normally the one to go to other games to scout the teams that we are coming up against. Must’ve sent someone else to the Wimbledon game.
My only guess is that he’s watching a player or 2, most likely a Solihull player.

Interesting.
Can our West Midlands correspondent ( I am sure we have someone from the Solihull area on this forum ) please tell us which player Copps is probably keeping an eye on.

I think John Coyle is your man.

I always look at every option
Bolton have gradually been getting better over the last 2 seasons - I fancied them to win this league this year but don't need to put money on them. They had some horrendous results earlier like a 4-0 home loss to Wigan -- but they seem to be on a roll for the rest of the season and might well walk this league (it's not that long since their managers position looked shaky) .... They like Portsmouth will bring in some re-inforcements in January
so Bolton might have someone to loan us -- unlikely but a possibility.
Another possibility is that we loan Solihull some players We could do a "Tommy Docherty" job on them loan them a couple of players - or more (yes I know T.D. did a "swopsi" loans were not available then
we will see

Heard a rumour that he was there to look over a Solihull player, possibly Josh Kelly. But there again it could have been he just fancied a different game to watch
COYR

Josh Kelly has been in fine form for the Moors this season. He might also be looking at Joe Sbarra, an attacking midfielder, who is 24 and had Football League experience with Burton Albion.
-
Sbarra is a very good player. Doubt we could afford him. Bigger clubs than us likely looking at him.
-
Neither of them played in the Bolton game, so hope it wasn't a wasted trip for Copps.
-
Apparently he had chips & gravy at half time so not a totally wasted evening.
That lad needs to fill out now he’s retired & in his forties.

Hopefully.
Kelly can play as a centre forward or on the left side of a front 3.
According to Off the Line Blog he is quick with clever movement.
11 goals in 21 games this season. And what would be very important for us right now - He has barely missed a single game in the last 3 seasons.
Sounds like the perfect partner for Ironside.
We need more movement and pace up. It sounds and looked like McCann was unhappy with Faal in this respect at the weekend.
-
He seems to be out and about doing a bit of scouting recently. He keeps sharing where he is on social media. He was at Harrogate on Saturday, presumably having a look at them ahead of our upcoming game there.
-
If one of his roles is working on strengthening the players' mental health and positive mindsets, he'll have been the busiest man at the club since Saturday.
-
My bet would be he is watching Joe Sbarra.

If we sign Sbarra, will his nickname be "cock"?
-
He’s a very good player but well out of our price range.

Sbarra?
I doubt he’d have been looking at him anyway as he’s not played since March

He’d fit right in here then.

Josh Kelly has signed for AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.
The Dons sold Al-Hamadi for over £1 million. They sold Assal for a similar amount last season.
Must be nice.

Turns out it must have been Carty, if he was playing in this game?
-
It was Josh Kelly but it required a fee. Whether we had a serious interest I don't know but Copps went to watch him
-
Coppinger will have been scouting clubs we will play next season.
-
Going over old ground with this but if we have people watching the opposition (over the past couple of seasons now in league 2) why are we recruiting players ineffective with coping/being better than the atypical style of play.
There are not many teams that play like MK Dons (probably the best performance I have seen this season).
Horses for courses?

Going to look at players in the National League who are good and contracted is pointless we do not pay transfer fees and we can’t compete with wages .
God forbid if we get relegated we will struggle to get back

Just like we are struggling to get out of L2.

Corrected for you, monkey tennis.

Why would any top up and coming National League player pick us if they have other EFL offers anyway?
If we look like a sinking ship we’re going to have to be even smarter to attract talent. And that’s a big ask.
This is why finishing above 18th is so important.

I THINK I’ve been able to decipher your post.
If I’ve got it right & you’re saying our CEO couldn’t care one way or another whether we stay in lg2 for next season or not, then I think it’s time you popped back in your box & with any luck someone might be on hand to nail it down.

Because he left with five minutes to go.
