Title: Las Vegas F1
Post by: Donnywolf on November 18, 2023, 12:52:55 pm
I know some people dont like F1 and there are definitely those people who dont like Las Vegas either but from a very embarrassing start yesterday (deffo a shoot yourself in the foot award) they recovered

So I personally have nothing but praise for the Place itself , the Teams , whoever designed the Track and the City of Las Vegas for coming good on their promise to provide a superb experience

The City especially the 1 and a bit miles of The Strip they blast down at 220 plus mph looks absolutely brilliant. Ive been 9 times since I turned 40 and never did I think I would see F1 Cars blasting past Bellagio , Treasure Island Paris and Venetian and now I have.
Unfortunately only on TV as the Ticket Prices and Hotel prices are far too expensive and if you watch on Telly you get a far better view anyway

So well done all involved and I reckon tourism will be taking a huge uptick which of course will have been seen as one of the big benefits .

So as I say there will be detractors , they've made at least 2 major clangers in the last 2 days probably 3 but for me immense and I will be watching from 5am Sunday happy to get up and watch the scenery and the race. Hopefully Verstappen wont have things all his own way in this race but if I had a free 10th trip to Las Vegas if I predicted the winner tomorrow I would not look past him

4.55 and I'm up to take it all in . Start of Race 6am

Never hoped for a Ferrari win but Leclerc is on Pole but has never converted a Pole into a win and this is his 12th attempt to do it

Winner ? Will be Verstappen

I got up early for it as well. Glad to say it was an interesting race with a few talking points, and even though the result was 'typical', it wasn't a massive gap and looked like it might not happen for large parts

Agreed. I wasn't surprised at the winner , there was imo an inevitability about it as there has been through the Season

Unfortunately unless Liberty make huge efforts to equalise the sport more and more as I'm sure they will try to , we will just get more of the same

Max should have got a penalty for an unsafe pit lane release, but because it was Max he didn’t

I recorded it because I like my beauty sleep!!

But I have to agree the setting was terrific, but I would still liken it to scalextric, long straights and 90 degree bends is not ideal although the spectacle was a positive.

Max should have got a penalty for an unsafe pit lane release, but because it was Max he didn’t

Yes he gets the benefit of certain decisions and seems to get any luck that's going

First corner he (imo) made sure he got passed Leclerc. When they imposed a penalty it took too long and was way too lenient

He got away with the unsafe release

He was lucky not to come out with more damage after George took him off

He got lucky when Safety Car decision came depriving Leclerc of a free pit stop but allowing his nearest challengers straight in and those tyres proved critical later

I also can't understand why the wings on Verstappen car were so different to Perez's car. Why handicap Perez on a circuit with massive straights to a set up giving him a 7km "handicap" to Verstappen even before any DRS is taken into account

i heard a diity the other day that vegas is one of the best cities in the world to have a heart attack in. because they have a very high number of defibs per capita. many of which are in the casinos.
