Title: Hypothetical Question
Post by: Bentley Bullet on November 25, 2023, 11:15:05 pm
I don't know about anybody else on here but I wouldn't be Rovers manager for a gold pig.

now, here's the hypothetical question, is there anyone on here who would actually like to be?

If I had TB money I'd have Rovers in the top division in five years.

I’d love to be Rovers Manager.

I would employ Dickos as my assistant and BST to run the catering.

BST wouldn’t do a good job, but anyone who complained about his crap service would get so bored by his response they would give up.

Yes, but if you were TB it would be YOUR money. That means you would be spending your OWN money and not somebody else's!

I'd have Harrogate Rover as manager, with Campsall Rover as assistant. I'd have Knockers as chief coach, and I'd play a periphery role akin to Brian Clough talking from the grave.

Well yeah, not really sure what you're getting at.

Let's say I won £160 million on the euro millions.
I would quite happily spend £150 million on the Rovers.

My missus might have something to say about it though (because it would be HER money too)

£150 million on Rovers and all those starving people in the country?

Anyway, this is a light-hearted thread, let's not go there.

Thank you for having faith in me BB. It would be an honour for my first managerial post of any note, to be at the club I love.
Obviosly as a young () in-experienced manager I wouldn't be averse to seeking guidence from an older, wiser mentor. Someone who's forgotton more than I could ever know, someone who's encylopedic knowledge of the game and footballing brain could only inspire those around them.

Do you have Lesley's number?

I'd have Harrogate Rover as manager, with Campsall Rover as assistant. I'd have Knockers as chief coach, and I'd play a periphery role akin to Brian Clough talking from the grave.

I would, and I wonder what the pay off would be when I get sacked?

Being Prime Minister is an easier job these days - In terms of the opposition being poorer!

Thanks BB
Take it as a compliment but to be honest I never like being no 2
Always strive to be no 1

Will be having a word with HR when I see him next home game after I get back from Hols to see if he will swop managerial positions with me.
 ;) :)

As I am the new owner of the club, you won't be getting a penny out of me if you're doing a shit job.
Close the door on your way out.

I'm happy to be a keyboard manager for now! Ask any manager - including Sunday League boys / girls coaches - like an iceberg most of what you do is hidden from view. It's easy chucking 11 names on a list but most of the grind is all the stuff you don't see. I'm sure I remember reading that Eddie Howe starts in the office about 6am and works through until at least 7pm, and then does calls / work every evening. I know it's not 12 hours down the pit, but the stress and pressure even for lower level Managers must be immense.
