Does the club control this, and did you miss any of the actual play?

They certainly control when they start broadcasting, as you can always hear the opposition going over the game before our lot can be bothered. I didn't miss any of the game, as the tribute to Terry Venables put back play for a couple of minutes.

We’re doing okay, lot of possession but not created many clear cut chances. One from Faal where he headed over. Needed that goal

Neither Bailey nor Wood were strong enough in the challenge and they played a great ball into the gap behind them

We are very funny to be fair, 3 centre halves on and they go straight through, well! The middle and score easily.
Got to laugh.
Put three lampposts on the six yard line, more effective but lose the comedy content.

Wood pushed forward so Anderson came inside to mark Hopper which allowed an acre for Taylor to run into.

I don’t think we were great that half. Didn’t seem to have control in midfield. Very few passing moves. Lucky to go in 1-1 after being on top for first 39 minutes

Colchester could have had 3 yet they have barely threatened. Sums up just how poor we are at the back.

Yes and it should have been a red for the very late challenge on him, looks like his knee, another potential long term injury
Title: Re: Rovers v Colchester
Post by: normal rules on November 28, 2023, 08:42:46 pm
Poor. Utterly consistent with a team who are 20th as it stands in lge2. Grimsby winning away  currently compounding rover’s plight. A draw is simply no where near good enough in this game . And yet again there was no surprise in the equaliser coming .

Another game where we may regret not making the most of a first half I think. We’ve been a lot more attacking than them but only an OG to show for it.

They seem happy to absorb the pressure and attack on the break and they are good at it. Their goal was a stitch up for Jones, no way he’s responsible for that. Our CBs are just too slow against their forwards. That’s it.
Title: Re: Rovers v Colchester
Post by: Thorney on November 28, 2023, 08:47:49 pm
All round very poor.

Defence all over the place for the goal.
No control in midfield. Not attacking with any conviction or urgency.

Colchester havnt been great either, can see why both teams are where they are jn the league. Skill levels poor.

Hopefully we come out much better for the 2nd half.

Hate seeing the subs the aimlessly knocking the ball around at half time. Why don’t they have a few drills to go through. I know we’re in the lower leagues now but doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be professional about it
Title: Re: Rovers v Colchester
Post by: RoversInSpain on November 28, 2023, 08:51:21 pm
Great saves from Jones otherwise we go in behind.
No idea why we’ve got 3 waddling centre halves on, perhaps they can achieve a 45 minute clean sheet
Title: Re: Rovers v Colchester
Post by: Thorney on November 28, 2023, 08:56:17 pm
We now go into the 2nd half with a defensive lineup of 2 that are slow as a tugboat and 1 who has no control and jumps into everything and tries to fly out and get infront of the striker and more often than not misses.
Any decent strikers would be licking their lips at this

Even though they didn't score and if they did it was probably too late in the game to change the result It's shit like that which costs us.
Grant should be pulling Bailey to one side over that.

Much needed 3 points. Subs gave us a spark, to get us away from the bottom 2. But oh my word, those were 2 very poor teams.
I cannot find anything positive regarding our horrific central defence apart from Jones who saved at least 2 certain goals.
Great header from Faal, to score but also he seemed the only one capable of heading out a cross in our own box too. We need 3 Mo Faals….

Give over dickos, at half time when the comments were made we were not comfortably the better side and Colchester probably should of been infront.
We only won it when molly came on. So the comments were probably accurate at the time.
If we play like that for the rest of the season then we will not be climbing this league.
It needs to improve. Happy with the win but the performance needs to be better

We’ve played well in games and lost a few times this season but there weren’t many saying it’s ok we played well.
Crewe game for example, the same folk who were saying results are what matters are now suggesting if we play like we did today we will be struggling.
It feels much better to not be at our best but win, I’d take that for the next 20 games.
First half we were by far the better side for half an hour and then struggled for the last 15, second half again we were the better side

The second goal came as a result of taking a corner short then putting a great ball into the box.
I don’t understand why people have to complain about us not just putting every corner straight into the box.
The short corner routines that we try allow players to get away from their markers.
