The board have been really good with me. They have given me a kitty to bring in the players we think we need.

Sounds we've handed over recruitment to a cat.

I never get the smell of bullshit from Grant, he's as honest as he can be.
Sure he can deflect a couple of questions but that's just keeping information in house.
I like the fact that he doesn't repeat any clichés after every game.
Probably my favourite manager since Dave Penney.
-
Taylor and Long a couple of weeks away he says. Interesting.
Also says we played a diamond rather than 433.
I’m very pleased we’ve got Grant and hope we can give him the time he needs. New signings and people back from injury can make a huge difference.
-
It’s vital we don’t hit the panic button on Grant he’s the best manager for the Job and needs to get this squad broke up and dealt with it’s been culminated in bad decisions both on and off the pitch.
I for one believe he will get the team in the top half and come the summer a few will be rightly shown the door and realise that they didn’t do themselves justice in a shirt and see there careers plummet.
He won’t rest on his laurels and clearly has no sentiments or loyalties to past careers some of which have been here way too long and just picking up a wage on reputation alone
-
Realistically are there going to be decent players available to us in January? Who will want to come to a team bottom end of league 2?

What ! Have you forgotten the one between Penney and Saunders.

He’s experienced now, he will have a lot of contacts and past connections.
I wouldn’t be surprised if some have been set up a long time and it’s just a matter of the right window/time to get them. So as long as they buy into the longer term, our current position won’t matter.
Agree on all the above points, love his honesty and intent to sort us out.

We’re very fortunate to have brought Mcann back into our club. I’m confident he will build a great team and have us back in lg1 next season

I am assuming you mean season after next.
Even I have given up on the play offs now.

No I haven't. I said favourite, not best.
SOD was a fantastic manager for us and is a legend of the club but I never warmed to his personality and I felt he was a bit prickly when I met him.
He always seemed to be on the defensive in his interviews too which I never liked listening to.

yes , sorry I meant the season after . Probably too far away now unless Grant pulls off a near miracle!
-
Sounds like maybe up to 4 new players are lined up?

I think with DP being a relatively local lad from a similar background to a lot of people, fans could relate to him (which likewise isn't a criticism of SOD)

Lets just hope its quality rather than quantity, if its a couple of loans and a couple of permanent then that should be about right for this part of the season. We cant afford to have deadwood on longer contracts, its bit us in the arse plenty just recently.

I mean, they’ve both been a few weeks away since they signed pretty much.

Interesting he mentioned a couple of loans so a couple of current loans going back. Am I correct in thinking we can only have 4?
-
Roberts and Marsh going back.

Opinion or fact?

You can only play 5.

Lot of people on here think their opinion is fact haha

When asked about players potentially leaving, he referred to our youngsters going out on loan. He didn't mention anything about current loans being ended.
However, we all know it could be a possibility but as he said, he's prepared to be patient, so if he doesn't get his targets in early, he can probably defer decisions on Roberts and Marsh, although Marsh is perhaps more dependant on his recovery.
He was very pragmatic about how January can be quite difficult but he sounded reasonably optimistic.
He doesn't look under stress and appears fully committed to the 'project'.
-
He also knows that Gavin Baldwin and Terry Bramall aren’t likely to dump him after a few bad results.

Not me, it's my opinion

It must be you Nudga. I took my friends seven year old to Cantley Park one very cold and snowy morning. The players were out of the compound but a small playing area had been cleared. SOD was stood at the side I asked him if he minded us watching and to my little friends delight he said no. He then stared chatting to the boy asking him where he was from and so on. At the end of the session he rounded up the players and asked them all to sign the lads autograph book. Copps stayed back and continued talking saying that SOD was about to move to Burnley and that it would be announced at 1-00pm. Thankfully SOD stayed loyal to our club but sadly the club and particularly Ryan didn’t.

"Possibly 1 or 2 permanent and possibly 1 or 2 loans"

Yes, I know. Incomings. You said 'so a couple of current loans going back'.
As someone else said, we can only have a max of 5 in a matchday squad but I think we could have more. I think under Moore we had six at one point. I doubt McCann would want to go that far though so yes, maybe one or two might be terminated.

My mistake I misread your post

I don’t believe this part. There is no way a player would openly discuss an official announcement on the day it’s being made beforehand with a man and his 7 year old at cantley park. You’ve made that bit up, haven’t you?

My thoughts exactly too, Colin and Sod himself said in an interview years after that the Burnley thing was just a media story.
-
As much as financial fair play allows, the board need to allow Grant a few signings that aren’t out of the Aldi bargain basket.
-
For League Two, financial fair play as a concept exists through the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP). To simplify, this means that wages cannot exceed 50% of turnover.

I guess Club Doncaster maybe aids this

I don’t imagine they use any dodgy constructs to break protocols ..GB too wise and experienced for that .

I realise that I shouldn’t really reply to this post as I know what was said but just to enlighten you two further.
An hour later the young lad realised that he had lost his phone so we went back to Cantley Park to find a number of media vehicles with the satellite communications systems, who informed them ?. End of and a Happy New Year.

The media had been all over that story for a week and on this forum virtually the only thing being discussed during that time. So by the time it was told to you every Rovers supporter in the country already knew about it.
