I thought this deserves a thread on it's own, rather than just being pre Harrogate.

I think this is one of the best and insightful interviews to date. Maybe a clue as to where we're going as a club More 'young and hungry' and less 'been there done that but only when I can be arsed'????
Also covers how he's dealt with the slump with the players individually and collectively and the reaction to criticism from the fans.
Some good information there to probe further at the Meet the Owners?
A very good listen.

That’s a good summary DBR :)

Excellent interview as ever, honest & insightful. Just one observation, really hope the staff & players realise that we as supporters, are, in the main, fully behind their efforts to turn our season & future around.
Think the comments at Notts County (by a small percentage of our supporters), was the culmination of pure frustration with what's been witnessed in the last 2 to 3 years, coupled with the hope & expectation of a far better performance than what we witnessed. It shouldn't distance the players & management from the supporters, as Grant has said this is a project, we should all stick together through it, management, staff, players, & supporters.
-
I think we ought to drop the ‘project’ word. Wasn’t it Schofield who used it regularly?

Process. The word still gives me shivers.

The ‘you’re not fit to wear the shirt’ was extremely vocal at Notts. I felt it was on the edge as it was an inclusive chant to the entire team, when in fairness some players are still finding their way. I felt at the time this doesn’t help and a fair few of us less vocal folk applauded with a chin up kinda message, but there weren’t many. However the last 2 games have been a revelation, with Grant eluding to a prove them wrong attitude. I wonder if this was the turning point rather than a superb out of the blue performance, a Mansfield in the stands moment.

They all need to realise that we've had to watch some real f**kin shite over the last 3 years and some people, myself included are sick of watching Rovers in the 4th division.
GM and the lads have had some phenomenal support this season which they are only too glad to lap up.
The very next game against Mansfield that support was there as they walked out of the tunnel. Hopefully the Notts game gave them all a kick up the arse and they've responded the last two games.
Give us heart and passion and you'll get it back in spades.

Whether you think it was warranted or not, the fans (myself included) who chanted “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” at the end of the game are well within their rights to do so if they feel it to be true. That run of 3 games was abysmal and I don’t encourage everyone to chant that if they don’t see fit but anyone applauding them off the pitch at Notts County is basically accepting absolute dross.
Those same fans that led those chants will have been the same ones at Mansfield and at home to MK Dons who stayed behind and applauded the lads off after 2 fantastic performances, where their effort and endeavour was clear to see. We don’t mind losing games if there is a clear willingness to run and leave everything on the pitch at the end. The lads have responded and they deserve all the credit that they have been given in the past week. Just like they deserved every bit of criticism they received after conceding 5 at home to Morecambe and registering 19% possession in a league 2 fixture.
Onto Harrogate!

Absolutely right I'm not condoning the dissenters one bit, their money, their choice, we just don't need the 'us v them' to creep in. Grant needs to draw a line under it now & let's finish the season strongly, & together.

Well, there's good news and bad news coming from McCanns post match.
Both Nixon and Faal are staying to fulfill their season loans but the injury curse has struck again (this time not on our territory) Louis Marsh was set to rejoin us yesterday but has injured his knee in a training session with the Blades! Still to be assessed whether it's bad enough to stop him coming back.
We're still looking at other options though.

Nixon has been ok. I prefer him to Sterry who I’m just not having.

Of course you’re not having him. You claimed he pretends to be injured and won’t change your view now.

I think Sterry has looked very good these last few weeks

I agree, I’m a big Nixon fan but i think Sterry has been Ok.
-
All the group that I go with thought Sterry was our MOTM against MK
-
Defensively I prefer Sterry to Nixon

I’m absolutely open to changing my opinion. Opinions are an evolving metric. You don’t get as far as I’ve got doing what I do not being open to change. He was awful today.

I think there were a lot worse than him today.

I think there were a lot worse than him today.
He lost possession 28 times today. More than anyone. That’s a pretty poor showing. His man got in for the second. Poor game.

Gaz, have you got stats on Biggins losing possession?
I get that makes grim reading.

7 times. 92% pass success rate. One of the better ones today.
-
I'm not a Biggins fan but thought he did ok today.
-
I hope Marsh is okay but I’d rather he went back and we got a couple of good midfielders in with the last 2 loan places
-
Without the benefit of in-depth stats, just purely from watching him, I think Sterry has been decent overall in the last few games before today. Today was his worst game by a mile. Not sure what the stats say but he seems to be more assured defensively than Nixon.

Thats good and an obvious improvement on previous games I've seen
-
Biggins won 1/5 duels
Close 5/8
Rowe 5/10

Out of interest is this just passes given away, or does it count things like receiving the ball and not getting it out of your feet and getting dispossessed etc?

This could be the way forward. Challenging the opposition to pistols at dawn. Football isn't proving a great option.

Agree with this, Les. Biggins was much more involved than previous games and much more positive.
-
Sounds like he’s lost patience with Olowu.
-
He looked rightfully angry and frustrated at yet another lack lustre performance from a poor team performance yet again. New commanding keeper needed urgently along with CDM and put the new cb in with Bailey . Defence has been shockingly bad.
-
Biggins has been decent last 3 games
-
Sounds like he’s lost patience with Olowu.
He’s definitely lost patience with some of them - rightly so
-
Sounds like he’s lost patience with Olowu.
Obviously roasted for the goal after being dragged out due to the RB being up field, but I thought Olowu was ok yesterday.
-
Same mistakes over and over, Grant has put his finger on it, there’s a fair few who lets say don’t appear to have a lot between their ears.
