Let’s see how that re-vamped defence performs.
Surely we should see an improvement? Certainly looks better on paper.

Assume it’s a back 3 with Bailey in there if Wood is starting?

They are striding through our midfield with ease at the moment.
We cant keep hold of the ball. To many balls just being lumped long

Good punch clear by Jones from a good Bradford corner.
IFollow commentator (who is very poor by the way) says he clawed it away.
Jones having a good game so far.

No it’s a back four of Sterry, McGrath, Wood and Maxwell.

Looking much better so far, having faced quite a number of crosses and corners.

Agreed about the commentator Hound, he’s poor.
Failing to give credit to some good defending by Rovers.

I must be unfortunatly. Its been all one way traffic, we've had no control in midfield. Not posed any threat going forward since the 3rd minute. Its all bradford. The only positive i can see is the 2 CB's looking solid.

Taylor flashed a great ball across the face of goal but no one could get a touch to poke it home.

Maxwell inches away from making contact with a fierce ball in from Taylor - just needed a touch and that was in.

More than a couple of knocks I think.
Molly can barely put weight on his injured leg and Carty had to be carried down the tunnel.

Good half by Rovers and Bradford are seemingly a bit rattled and starting to get very physical with their challenges.

Half time 0-0.

Well played Rovers. A much more solid show in defence and we’ve taken the game to Bradford when possible - 5 corners earned.
A couple of very near misses. Taylor looking lively and dangerous since he came on.

Molly and Carty off injured as a result of two cynical fouls on the touch line, neither of which resulted in a free kick.

We’re still well in this tie.

Rovers haven’t got the skill of a lot of the Bradford players, but they have looked more dangerous than Bradford in and around the box. We’ve managed to deal with the crosses too with Jones leaving his line to good effect on one or two occasions.
Title: Re: Bradford Vs Rovers (Bristol Street Motors Trophy)
Post by: Pancho Regan on January 30, 2024, 08:32:26 pm
Awful pitch, weak referee, childish commentary by Tom Biltcliffe but a decent performance so far by Rovers.

The back four looks much improved on the shambles last Saturday and in other recent games. It’s good to see two full backs worthy of the name and the two CB’s are complementing each other well.
Richard Wood is a steady influence so far and we’ve defended balls into the box which we totally failed to do on Saturday.

A shame about losing two players with injuries but we can win this.

Title: Re: Bradford Vs Rovers (Bristol Street Motors Trophy)
Post by: jmt23 on January 30, 2024, 08:33:46 pm
Sterry looks like he’s blowing out his a£s#, I know he’s just back but he looks way of it.

Molly took a nasty blow to the right shin/calf no way was it an attempt at the ball, should’ve been a yellow.

Carty was  shouldered, but way off the ball - he wasn’t prepared for it and went flying. He instantly looked white as a ghost. Again no attempt at the ball, his only concern was fouling the player.

They are as bad as us in defence, just keep the crosses and pressure up, and they will cave in.

This,Im not one of the serial Jones critics, but he was far too far the other side for defending a right footed players free kick from almost central position.
