Another special player gone to that dreadful disease:
From the bbc sport website:
“Former England and Queens Park Rangers forward Stan Bowles has died aged 75.
Bowles, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, played more than 560 games in English football, and was capped five times by England.
He made 315 appearances for QPR and scored 97 goals for the Loftus Road club.
Bowles also played for Manchester City, Bury, Crewe Alexandra, Carlisle United, Nottingham Forest, Leyton Orient and Brentford.”

RIP Stan

So sad about this. Way back in the 70’s I remember seeing Stan on TV and being mesmerised by his skill. He literally was a magician on the ball. He was right up there with the very best. God bless you Stan.

Does anyone recall Antonia De Sancha the woman who had an affair with David Mellor, they said of her that she’d laid on more balls than Stan Bowles.

I remember him on Superstars and have looked many times to find it anywhere
The competitors were taking it in turn at Pistol shooting. The gun was loaded by a competent person passed sideways to the shooter who then took aim and fired. They then pointed the Pistol diagonally onto the Table in front of them for reloading
Amazingly and I never knew how Stan Bowles on one of his shots , aimed at the target and then put the Pistol back down on the Table and it went off and blew a hole in Table
Still don't know how he didn't know he hadn't fired it in first place pmsl

Saw him play for Crewe against us at Belle Vue. He was outstanding and scored twice.

The mercurial Stan famed for going the bookies at half time to place a bet just speaks volumes of his character and status at QPR
