When we were relegated into League Two, we were shit.
And Crewe were even shitter.
They’ve adjusted and improved faster than we have, but that quote suggests they have become a little deluded.
-
Certainly deluded, we're a bigger team than Crewe, always have been.

I personally hate it. I wish we would lose the loser tag and aim higher.

are they still dining out on that 8-0 win

Crewe won’t go up this season imo.
We will go up before they do and we have the potential to get promoted into the championship with this manager or another of a similar ilk. That is providing TB is prepared to make the budget very competitive when we get back to League 1.
Crewe on the other hand are unlikely to ever be more than a bottom half League 1 club at best and they are in fact a League 2 club by size of town and catchment area and therefore potential support.
-
“We should be beating the likes of Doncaster” quote is simply based on their team being 4th and Rovers being 20th in the league.
There is no way any sensible Crewe fan could seriously think they are a bigger Club than we are or even potentially a bigger club.
If any do think that then they are in fantasy land.
Without even looking at the history of both clubs which tells them all they need to know, look at population.
Crewe 73.000 and combined with Nantwich is 111.000 compared to DMBC which is 310.000
I refer back to the first sentence of this post. League position at 15.00 hrs yesterday.

Perhaps they were solely looking at League positions rather than bigger Club thing
They say Table doesn't lie and tbh our position has been accurate till last few games. We are now playing fairly well , getting tougher to beat , scoring and keeping clean sheets which contrary to my statement " the Table doesn't lie" actually doesn't yet reflect out revival
So they probably look and think " cannon.fodder" but unfortunately for them WRONG

Doesn't really matter about population size when 90% of your quoted Donny population don't support Rovers
-
They also thought they were playing against 12 men
-
For their position on the league and chance of top 3 yesterday I thought the away support was ordinary at best..
-
To be fair, the post appears to have come from their own resident whinger. Most fans and their manager gave us credit.
I think our league position is working in our favour so far with opposition potentially being complacent. But we will soon gain some places. Accrington, Harrogate and Notts are just above us and make up the form table bottom 3.
-
Notts County have took a right nose dive since their manager left
-
Think it had already started before he left Filo but they are in free fall

It was shocking. They are a small club. Always have been and almost certainly always will be.
They have a very loyal band of supporters who support them through thick and thin and I have every respect for them as a club. They have produced a much higher number of top players from their youth system than just about any other 3rd or 4th tier club.
That is an achievement they should be very proud of. Dario Gradi should take a huge amount of credit for that youth development he built during his long tenure at Crewe.

Think you can add Swindon and Tranmere to that list. Possibly another 2/3 are catchable also.

Thought the same, with them in with a shout of promotion I was surprised how small their away following was.
-
Couldn't believe Crewe are chasing the top 3 and only brought 500 fans. Hardly a long journey is it.
-
You would have thought the majority of their supporters would come by train
-

Perhaps it sent them off to Workington.

I thought that too

Well you would expect them a team in 4th place toss at that,I wonder what the Barnsley fans thought on Saturday they had a gate of 14,000
-
How funny this thread lòoks now as the Play Offs begin lol
-
What is the best Crewe forum please?
She your looking for other teams forums, it does go to show how brilliant this one is.
The Crewe ones I have found are rubbish!
-
Wonder if that Crewe fan still thinks “We should be beating the likes of Doncaster” as we embark on 2 play off games against each other.
Well by Friday night we will know the answers to that one.

Oh dear predictive text hound. I usually proof read but didn’t. Likes of Doncaster was intended. Honest
Think I will alter it. Might get a bit of stick from others if I leave it. ;)

I don't know if this is relevant.
In much the same way as many Doncastrians watch Leeds, Sheff. Utd/Weds., Man Utd etc etc rather than Rovers, many residents of Crewe will watch Man. Utd./City, Liverpool etc. rather than their home town team.
In that respect (and others) the two places have much in common with each other.

I think there is always an element of any fan base which falls back on such vacuous notions as TLOD and big club/small club etc. It is probably a comfort when you cannot summon up anything rational.
