Post by: steve@dcfd on March 25, 2024, 04:09:21 pm
Why is on Tuesday evening and not Easter Monday. If this has been asked before I apologise.

I might be mistaken but for some reasonni think it was on the advice of south yorkshire police

Rotherham are at home to Millwall, Barnsley and Sheff Wednesday are away, so can’t see why SYP would want it moved

Are the police fearing a spill over of train travelling Millwall ‘fans’ pouring into Doncaster after their game at Rotherham?

I heard they moved it as they hoped sky might pick it up. Don’t know how true this is?

It would have been a full away end on Monday, on a Tuesday nite, not so sure.?

You're probably right. Having said that they've all year to plan and it's a massive game for them now in their promotion push against the leagues form team.

The definitive answer could be obtained from the club, could it not?

Any extra day of rest would not be unwelcome for the players, but the major difference would be to the away following. The outward journey from Wrexham at probably the most congested time of the day is one you would not choose to make.

Overall Rovers surely gain an advantage.

An extra day of rest for the Wrexham game though means one day less  of rest before the following Saturday match at Morecambe.

Most people have Easter Monday and the Tuesday off these days.
The only real problem for most fans is getting up for work on the Wednesday morning after getting home late.

I suspect Sky is about to rear it’s unwanted head .

Majority of people of I know have Friday and Monday off, it’s seemed to have moved from having Tuesday off

I have rarely worked an Easter Tuesday after starting work in 1964 and retiring in 2014. When given the choice the majority preferred to work Fridays and the majority won.

Where I work now doesn’t recognise bank holidays (you just get a day that you can use at any point), but whenever I’ve worked somewhere that recognises them it’s always been Friday & Monday.

The only time I’ve had Easter Tuesday off is when I worked for British Rail

Over my working career it was traditional in the trade for Plumbers and Builders Merchants to close on Easter Monday then split the staff so that half of them had Friday and Monday as holiday days and the other half had Monday and Tuesday.
I always opted for Monday and Tuesday off.

Back in the day we had Good Friday, and Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday... 3 days ... which if you was on call meant 5 days at home (no mobile phone in those days) ..... it was the worse standby period of the year ..... but you got a standby payment and time back in lieu ....... those were the days

Similar set up for me

I used to pick Good Friday to work .... as it was only 6 hours for me , and was very quiet as everyone else across Company took it off

Then I had Tuesday off when things were manic  as they all fought with incoming calls etc.
