Title: City v Arsenal
Post by: scawsby steve on March 31, 2024, 06:35:10 pm
Unbelievably low key. Both sides off it, no intensity, no crispness of passing, nothing. Absolutely disappointing.

Great for Liverpool though.

My sister is a city fan and said that was the most painful game she has ever seen. She has no idea…

A game of chess played on a football field, great defenders and nobody allowed to show any skills or get goal side, and physicality shown by everyone on the field.
There is more to football than letting people play, a load of skill stopping them doing that in this game and could well be enacted again in the European final, Arsenal have some teeth now and don't roll over.

Not one for the purist.
But from a tactical view point was fascinating to watch.

I don’t like Arsenal much but credit to them. They came to the Etihad to do a job. Stifle City and they did it brilliantly.

If we had done that at Wrexham or Stockport earlier in the season and got a 0-0 draw instead of losing 2-1 & 1-0 respectively then we would all have been delighted.
Arsenal fans will be very happy on their journey down the M6 & M1 this eve.

Well that's wrong, because Arsenal beat them 1-0 at the Emirates. Are you sure they didn't say in home games?

Yes home games. I think 57 was mentioned. That’s some record.

You didn't miss a single thing

What was first half like as I was expecting a 5.30 KO , had a big walk and got back as Players were coming on for second half

The last thing it was was boring, no other team has been able to stop Manchester City scoring at home for years, it was tense technical and tactical to negate some of the best players in the world.
To do that you have to be skilled yourself, organised, and committed, Italian teams have been successful being like that for years.
Try to play open football against any of those two sides and you are likely to be ripped to bits, it's not basket ball.
