We NEED to do whatever we can to make him a permanent in the summer! What a keeper!

Reminded me of the Gordon Banks one versus Brazil. Slightly!! Hell of a save though, I really did think that was 1 all, well done Timmy!! Ooh, forgot, another clean sheet as well.

If we had signed a decent keeper in the summer I think we would have been right up there. TLT has made such a massive difference

Him Craig and haks have transformed our team, I’d love us to break the bank for Tim, he has a cocky arrogant swag about him that I love to see.

Tremendous save. To not only get down in time, but to get such a strong hand on it to push it away from danger is top class keeping.

Lightning reactions. Not many keepers would have even seen that.

Fantastic keeper, he's made a massive difference.

I would love to see him back here in the summer but surely he's too good to be playing in League 2 again next season.

Breathtaking save that was - worth every bit as much as a goal at the other end.
He earned us 2 points there, absolutely superb goalkeeping.

He might get that this season Hound.
Yes I know it’s still a very long shot. But for every game we win the chances increase.
Unless someone else does almost as well as us in the remaining games.

We absolutely have to sign him. That’s the difference a quality keeper makes.

Had a text from my Hull City supporting pal last night about TLT:

“Unfortunately for Donny, but fortunately for us, it’s unlikely that we’ll sell him. It’s rumoured that one of our first choice keepers will be leaving in the Summer and TLT will move up the pecking order as he’s well thought of at City.”

Obviously, money does talk though and I’m sure that TLT would rather play first team football than be a second choice reserve at Hull.

Top class save , thought there was a couple of high balls he could have claimed 1st half and took the pressure off the defence. Scares the shit out of me with these short goal kicks. Like other posters have said previously Jones & Lawlor are 2 no2 keepers nothing more. If we can't sign TLT we need a keeper on par at the very least next season.

100% agree, and superbly described sir!
DFP should put that as their main match Headline, in large font too

Not having a go , well maybe I am to to all those Louis Jones fans.

What a difference having a goal keeper of the quality TLT is.
It’s massive. The goalkeeping position should never ever be underestimated. Last line of defence.
How many goals has this guy conceded for us not many.
Agreed having Wood and Anderson as a settled pair at CB is a big help and Louie didn’t have that protection very often.

But the facts are imo.

TLT is so much more pro active as a keeper.
He is much more vocal
His starting position is so much better.
He moves his feet much better.
He is physically stronger and doesn’t get bullied.
He dominates his 6yd box.
He is quicker in decision making.

He would be a massive signing for us either permanent or on loan this summer.
If we can sign him then how much would Hull City want?
He is only 3rd or 4th choice for them at present I think.

But we should do whatever it takes ( within reason ) to sign him up one way or another.
A keeper of that quality can get you as much as an extra 15/20 points a season.

Just read your post HA

Well we can hope.
If we can’t get him we need to find someone else with his qualities. That will not be easy.
We are in league 2 and quality Keepers are not ten a penny. Getting one to play in League 2 is not easy.
If we did go up this season it would help of course.

On the being vocal bit, Wood gave him a right bollocking last night for not communicating with him

He would be a good signing but this doesn’t look likely. What it does emphasise though is the difference that a reliable and capable keeper can make. We have scrimped over the years, hope this has been an education.

If we can’t sign TLT (which sadly is looking doubtful) it does go to show that there are goalkeepers ‘out there’ who I’m sorry but have ‘more about them’ than Louis or Ian have ever shown.

We have missed a keeper like him for past 3 seasons
Title: Re: TLT
Post by: ForsolongaRover on April 03, 2024, 05:47:31 pm
There are 3 goalkeepers at Hull ahead of him, so currently he does not have much prospect of 1st team starts unless the other three go down the order. Consequently, assuming he does not get “promoted” to number 1 by Hull, he will not get games. Therefore a season-long loan elsewhere seems a fair prospect and obviously we’d hope he might choose to be here.

I would have thought that if you are a goalkeeper the “work” is fairly similar irrespective of the level at which you are playing - although the money will be better as you go higher up the leagues!

Had this debate on here before about goalkeepers organising defences and talking to defenders-both sadly lacking with our other keepers. Yes LJ has got better but i think we all agree that he is way behind the standard (all round) of TLT

I remember a few years ago we took Seny Dieng from QPR (now plying his trade with Middlesborough)

I commented that I rated him, his no nonsense approach and complete lack of histrionics. There were no 'fake' congratulations after making a save,  he didn't particularly engage with defenders or bollock them for not clearing a ball he quietly made his thoughts known. you get my drift.

Several of you kindly agreed and said " you're right, I hadn't noticed"

I feel our current encumbant displays similar qualities.            Thoughts?......

I went to Stevenage v Donny at the end of last season.

I've just twigged, TLT played for Stevenage. Not important, but I'd not heard any comments.

Think if we do try to buy him , put a big 40% sell on fee for hull or even a buy back option in his contract at an agreed fee
