Can someone hunt down that bloody pen.
-
He’s 26 so probably has one good move left if he can get that. It could be b*llocks but if there is an A League contract waiting for him, you’d definitely take that. Big lifestyle change.
-
My gut feeling is he will be the one who turns us down. Hope I’m wrong as he looks like he’s thriving in a McCann team.

The pessimist in me agrees. He's peaking at the right time for us but paradoxically it's probably the wrong time in terms of contract renewal - a lot of L1 clubs will no doubt be sniffing.
-
It depends if he wants to be one of the first names on the team sheet next season at a club that clearly has momentum or risk a potential lesser role at a club higher up. Copps needs to impart some Kenobi wisdom to young Luke…
-
Same for me, i dont think he will sign.
I really hope im wrong of course.
-
Well, let's not let all this speculation taint this wonderful spell we're having. Just enjoy the moments. I'm sure he'd love to be at L1 player...with us!
-
Hopefully any potential clubs will also look at some of his performances pre January… and not his sudden amazing up turn recently.
-
It all depends on his agent. If he's as big a spiv as most of them, Moly will be going to the highest bidder.
-
Maybe Moly is waiting to see what happens with the loanees who have transformed our season. I hope they all realise that what has happened in the last few weeks is a rare, rare thing, once in a career probably, and that they would probably live to regret walking away now. Recent performances suggest to me that this team could comfortably cope in the top half of League 1, and anything is possible from there.
-

I think he’s been our best player all season

He has been very good but had to bear the burden of being our most likely player to create something.
With the addition of Adelakun and Craig he now has someone to share the load and not have to carry too much pressure himself.
-

Prior to the current incredible run, I had Bailey, Ironside Westbrooke (before injury) and even Faal ahead of a promising but hugely frustrating Molly.
-
I think he’s gonna sign.
-
He ought to sign. For most of his time here he's been poor.
Owes us a good season.
-
When has he been poor ? He’s always put a shift in, the end product has not always been brilliant granted
-
On the BBC Sheffield chat after the game, he came across as absolutely loving it at drfc right now.. let's hope...
-
Maybe wants to see if we make the playoffs if we do he'll stay even if we don't go up this season.
If we miss out by say a point or two I'd say it's 50 50, don't know how any player would need convincing after how we have turned it around
-

As a club we shouldn’t have to wait that long if he really wants to be here. Surely there’d be a % increase with promotion. Stick to the take it or leave it method, up until January/February he’s been like many other wingers that have been and gone.
-

No that'll be Bailey!
-
Mols has come good but he was lacking consistency. Seeing his best now.
-
Grant has said the club will not be held to ransom, they make an offer with an expiry date, take it or leave it. Let's hope that date hasn't been and gone..

really!!!!

I think we have been very patient with him and he did underwhelm for quite a while. It’s easy to forget that given his super recent form. I agree, if he weighs up the whole of his time with us, he still has a point to prove and I’d like to think he wants to sign up again.

People know that players can improve a team but many overlook that a team can improve a player.
The players we now have, have given Moly more freedom to do his stuff at the top end of the pitch and he has more opportunities to show his attacking qualities which is what most fans judge him by.

Interesting point. Some players can only play their best in good teams. Some players can play their best even in poor teams. Sterry, Mols, Biggins have all improved of late for being part of a better team but didn’t hand the levels themselves to propel the team forward. Craig, Wood, Hakeeb and TLT coming in has dragged to lesser characters along.
-

Surely that date would be the end of the season at the earliest, it's not like we can sign anyone else before then.
Am sure his agent will be in his ear with other offers, I really hope he stats & kicks on with us.

Yes, it's quite likely other options are available to him so he's in the box seat at the moment.
We've had similar situations in the past when some you win and some you lose. Whiteman and Marquis for example, both re-signed knowing they were adding value to both themselves and the club so should offers come in, we wouldn't stand in their way (as long as the offers matched a minimum value) The club gets criticised by some by 'letting' them both go, but they're not prepared to give credit and getting them to renew in the first place. Without those agreements in place, they could have walked for free.
McCann's a wise dude so he'll know the score with Moly so I'm sure they've done all they reasonably can to sign him back up. Moly doesn't seem to be unduly stressed about the situation and is playing his best football so he's in a win, win situation.

Yes but can you still get us “better for less money” ?
Or is this a roundabout way of saying “I got that wrong” ?
-
Ultimately unless you're a few levels above the league you're playing in it's still a team game and every player differs. Some better in poor teams, some better in good, some consistent and some can't handle pressure.
Half the battle we've had has been mental, you can see that pressure helping some players.
And every successful team we've had has had strong characters and leaders. Wood is certainly giving us that right now.
McCann was also spot on in needing competition. Play poorly you'll lose your spot. There is competition all round. If molyneux for example doesn't perform then Hurst is there making impacts from the bench most weeks.
-
It also lets players get a bit of a rest when games are coming thick and fast.
Biamou sharing duties with Ironside for example and being able to bring on subs who don’t weaken the eleven on the pitch.
-
The other thing is now that players are usually playing in their best positions with regular teammates alongside them. Good players will always play out of position to help the team out but usually lose a percentage of their effectiveness doing so. The whole position around the starting eleven and subs bench has changed so dramatically and confidence now is sky high. The whole squad are performing now and it is rare to see any one of them have a bad game now even if a little under par by their own standards.

Signing Biamou was a touch of brilliance by GM, an inspired decision.
He couldn’t have based this recruitment decision on Biamou’s data or stats because he hasn’t got any for the last two years.
This was an instinctive decision, a bit of a gamble, which has paid off handsomely.
All of a sudden we have an alternative option to our previous 100% reliance on Joe.
Biamou now shares the burden with Joe and gives the opposition something else to think about.
It’s really strengthened our squad in a key position - brilliant to have Biamo as an extra option.
-
I wonder what the prognosis is on Biamou and Biggins, Could the injury be season ending for Biamou? didnt look good hobbling off.

No doubt hes been good when he’s played but as any historical data would have said when he signed he’s unlikely to stay fit having been injured for so long and being 30+. He managed 250 minutes before pulling his hamstring.
-
Moly posted onto Twitter 2 hours ago. Plenty of follow up - pretty much all asking on the contract

Thankfully, a strain as McCann said, isn't career threatening so could be worth the risk.
-
For me it seems like Moly must be unsure/weighing up his options. He knows he is well liked and is getting game time, but recent twitter posts do make me wonder. 1 making the point of number of games left util end of seaon and today highlighting his goal scoring.
-
Just seen the question 'would you prefer to be the best player in an average team, or an average player in the best team' put to Rovers players
Both Moly & Haks were in the minority who said 'best player in average team'. Might that be a hint, or cause for optimism?

He'll be off to Barnsley then
-
I notice he is in the club shop on Thursday to meet fans, a strange position to put him in if he's thinking of leaving.
I honestly think they are going to announce it tomorrow before the game, to give everyone a further boost.

Let’s not forget he had many years playing across the football league and at a higher level for several seasons. Plenty of stats and data to go off. I don’t think the issue was ever quality with him it was purely can he get fit. Obviously impressed on trial so got a deal. It wasn’t as if he was some unheard of guy who had been playing 5 aside his whole life

I did think that about the club shop, but then if could be a move by GM, if there are dozens of people going in all asking him to sign on and he sees the love for him at the club then it could push him to sign?

Well I realise that, obviously.
My point is that not having played first-class football for something like two years, and the fact that Max will turn 34 this year, this was an inspired signing by GM.
You're the first one to raise doubts and criticism when we sign older players - you can't have it both ways.

Will it still be inspired if he’s out injured after only 260 minutes of football? Thats the risk you have to balance vs ability.

If we let this lad go we will struggle to replace him.
Absolutely quality, even when he isn't producing 'stats' he is working his bollox of.
TB, please do what is needed to keep this lad.
