He must have been unplayable at times. Spin bowling at medium pace. Although given how the pace of all bowling has increased since then, I suspect there are modern spinners who bowl faster today. You often see spin bowlers these days clocked pushing 60mph.

Remember being on holiday as a kid at Primrose Valley.
Sat outside the caravan listening to a test match on the radio as Derek took the Windies apart.

In 1984 vs Kent, as you said batting as a night watchman. He actually scored 111 and more remarkable was that it was 21 years after his debut and he was 39 years old
