Title: The penalty against Barrow

Did anyone else notice James Maxwell run and stand on the penalty spot to stop the Barrow players roughing it up

I didn’t. I was actually watching Joe pacing with the ball in his hands to see if any of their players approached him to try & put him off.

How anyone can’t credit a penalty under any circumstances but especially in a pressure situation like yesterday as being ‘worthy’ of counting alongside goals scored from open play is beyond me.

I noticed, he rushed to the spot, I thought to take any pressure from the opposition from Joe, could’ve been to prevent other dark arts, as they now say - cheating is the word, not dark arts. So glad we beat them, I can’t stand what they tried to employ, not even if my team does it - I have never ever seen any player from DRFC drop to that level seen yesterday by Barrow though.
That should not be part of football at any league level.

You're not understanding it.

Penalty taking is a skill, but then also is finishing and quality attacking positioning. Ironside is a quality hold up player, not exactly know as being a main goal threat. Using open play goals allows you to compare with other strikers, penalties are just a nice bonus.

Yes, I wondered what he was doing at first. He’s a fine player. He also sprinted off when the substitution was being made. No messing about, he just does the right thing.

I spotted that too.
