I know you don’t change a winning team, but this is a big call on Tuesday. Tom was magnificent when he came on but Joe has been great the last 3/4games since he’s come in.
Tough one for Grant
-
Joe didn’t play badly so why change it unless for tactical reasons?
-
They will be hoofing it up to John Akinde. Perhaps Anderson for this one.
-
Joe he has played well and gives us that pace at the back ,Tom was great yesterday but they all were after we changed formation
-
Why not start with a back three?
-
Anderson in the Pirlo role
-
Anderson getting the plaudits for his cameo (rightly so) but Joe was brilliant the first half and made some great interceptions.
Stick with Joe.
-
Why not start with a back three?
Why start with a back 3
Yesterday we didn’t really have a back 3 when GM changed the formation and personnel because Anderson was like a Roving Maldini.
We have gone 16 games with 1 defeat and 3 draws with a back 4 apart from 30 mins yesterday.
Our full backs have been an integral part of our success both Defensively and offensively playing in a flat back 4
I would be very surprised if we started with 3 centre backs at Colchester but if GM thinks that’s what we should do then I would assume he would do it for a tactical reason.
Don’t re invent the wheel I would say. Just keep on doing what we have been doing now for around 10 weeks
Stick with Joe alongside Woody. Assuming both fit.
Happy to leave it to GM to make the right call.

Joe. All day long.
-
I'm unsure, tough one for me. I don't think Oluwu is at his best against a big lump like yesterday, it's not his game.
Ultimately the whoever is sub will come on so they'll all be involved. I'd probably stick with Joe too.
-
Thought joe had another good game yesterday. Most defenders will have a wobble at some point during a match against that big lump they had up front but i woildnt say joe struggled.
The only time they threatened was the 2 goals. Rest of the game i thoughtwe coped pretty well
-
I wouldn’t drop Joe, we need his pace and energy, Akinde is still quite mobile. Whether he’ll go three at the back to try and cope with their set pieces I don’t know, I’m sure McCann will make the right call.
-
Stick with the 4 but it’s nice to see we’re fluid enough to go to a 3.
I know the lads are probably knackered but I can see us dishing out a good hiding tomorrow. Regardless of them needing a point for safety.
4-0.
-
Joe - he was actually my MOTM on Saturday - Anderson was class when he came on though
-
Joe for me too and maybe Tom later when Colchester resort to bombing the box. It's great we have the options though after so long where the centre half personnel changed every week.
-
He has chosen Tom....
-
I think this is the right call.
Looking in to Hopper and Akinde they win a LOT in the air.
-
I’ve not generally been one of Joe’s biggest fans this season but my word he has really stepped up to the plate during this winning run. He has hardly put a foot wrong. Full credit to him. I feel a bit sorry for him losing out to Tom this evening.
-
Managers have to make tough calls, hard on Olowu he's not put a foot wrong this is just tactical. Biggins for Westbrook was an easy one
-
Joe has a history of cramps and hamstring injury, three games in a week? could be the reason as well as the type of players the opposition have up front matching up experience.
-

4-0.
4-1. Close enough.
-
Good call really from GM, they had some size on that pitch, even the wingers were big, Tom straight back ion and picked up from where he left off.
No slight on Joe and his time will come again, with a mentor like RW he should be lapping it up whilst its there to benefit from.
-
Hurst looked good again.
