I see one of our "esteemed" former Member of Parliament was turned away at his local polling station as he he had forgotten his ID.
Now who could that have possibly been..........
None other than one of the instigators of this ridiculous piece of legislation
I give you
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson
And please bear in mind
Boris Johnson said in 2004 that he would eat his ID at a polling station in protest if the law ever required it.

all designed to suppress the voting public.
-
Not at all, went down about 20 mins ago. Only person there and I always have my driving license anyway. It's easy.
-
Risky will need voter id also especially if he moves to the US in the near future.
-
If he moves to the USA I doubt that he will poke his nose into what happens here anyway.

Who also said he would die in a ditch , he would lie down in front of bulldozers , he didn't Party during COVID , he would hide in a fridge etc
Oh wait he did hide in a Fridge

Went to vote about 11am, had to queue for several minutes, never done that before. One reason was they were entering elector names on to a pad rather than underlining on the register, then validating the ballot sheets (3 in London) before handing it over. As I left the queue was at least ten deep. It’ll be even busier for a GE, so need to choose my time to vote carefully.
-
I see he allegedly took an envelope with his name and address on it as ID
-
What a Jobsworth Bell end whoever turned him away.
-
Yep , cos a volunteer poll clerk who works for local council would want to get sack for giving him a pass cos they recognised him, when he went to press to say he'd been allowed in with incorrect id . I've worked elections and it's taken very seriously. Boris was just playing the game for a bit of press, either way he couldn't lose for publicity.
-
At my polling station they were handing out IDs outside. I voted 14 times for Sadiq Khan, and I don't even live in London. The people inside knew it wasn't right but they couldn't say anything because of woke.

What was that? And then you woke up? You okay? Were you in the fridge?

Good for you, having a driving licence.
What about folk who don't drive and don't have a passport?

Yep. A jobsworth bell end applying the very law that Johnson's Government introduced.
Who helps you wipe your arse?

Had a year now to get FREE voter ID certificate. Your just moaning now for the sake of it
-
I believe its still Labour policy to introduce ID cards, amongst other things it should sort this problem out.
The only issue will be ensuring how they can issue without being pray to counterfeit problems.
It should be in the realms of possibility these days to prevent this.
-
You think if there was to be any massive voter fraud it would have happened by now or we would have seen an attempt. There hasn't been any let alone the scale required to change a result is even more unlikely.

Yes but some people don't because they have busy, complicated lives and this isn't a priority.
Still, good to know the rules on voter ID are being applied diligently.

A year Billy a year, not 2 minutes, no excuse anymore
-
Busy complicated lives but they never need ID? Seems a bit far fetched to me. I'm 36 and I still need it to buy a beer at times!

This is my life so everyone else has the same life?
-
NO I just struggle to see really why anyone wouldn't have some form of ID or someone who could help them. Clearly we disagree.

If you don't drive, leave the country, look young or are old, why do you need photo ID?
-
And even if you DO look young, most of the IDs that would allow you to buy ale are not allowed as voting photo ID. Whereas there's a myriad of different IDs that are allowed for old voters.
I wonder why that is...

Anyway. One more for the East Mids dole queue.
That cock end Ben Bradley has failed to get elected as EM Mayor. And will lose his Westminster seat in a few months. Looks like he's going to have to go back to actually earning a living instead of spouting Culture War shite.
-
In the grand scheme of things this really is a nothing argument.
Anyone who is interested in wanting to vote will ensure they have some sort of ID, if it's that important to someone, surprisingly, to some it's not.
It's no more of a chore than the countless other things you are required to abide by these days.

My post is as based in reality as the issue of election fraud, ie not at all.

Election turnouts prove your point about people not wanting to, or bothering to vote.
Storm in a tea cup going on in this thread.

So pleased he won't be my EM Mayor, whooped in my local District
Still Leader of the Tory controlled Notts County Council so he'll have one job
As Anna Soubry said about him it's a shame his abilty doesn't match his massive ego.
-
Independents and greens combined have gained more seats than Labour. Interesting
-
An intetesting point came out that Bradley didn't win in his current constituency of Mansfield.
The oter thing was that turnout in EM was only 22%, can that, and other turnouts of up to 30%, be taken as a true reflection to base GE results on? Not for me
-
Is the requirement for id going to be scrapped if Labour win?

Wouldn't be surprised, they need the thousands of illegals voting for them
-
Hey Tony, can you talk me through how an illegal immigrant gets onto the electoral roll please?
