Title: Molyneux
Post by: Thorney on May 11, 2024, 12:45:41 am
Though its still raw with the result.

Anyone suprised that he didnt pull the trigger when he had the chance on more than 1 occasion. After the run he has been on i felt he would of took every chance to smash 1 in. Seemed to look to set up someone else when he was in a better position.

Frustrated.

Hope that isnt the last we see of him in a rovers shirt

I know what you mean and he did have more opportunities than most but I think they were all a bit shot shy tonight.

As a team we didn't test their goalkeeper anywhere near enough tonight. Too much indecision around the box.

Just felt like one of those frustrating days where nothing quite works out in attacking areas.

It’s the first league game we haven’t scored in, in 20 games.

That isn't what I expected from this thread......

We MUST sign this lad up. What a player. I would take him over Haks any day of the week. When he isn't getting goals and assists he works his arse off.

Players come and go and I trust GM but he is the one where I will be gutted if he is on the released list.

Id love nothing more than an announcment tomorrow that he has re-signed. But cant see it. Think we needed promotion for that.

I imagine he'll be off. It will be a shame as he's a great player at this level, however I trust McCann to bring in a suitable replacement.

Well Grant didn’t mince his words about players yet to re-commit. Sign or go - he has set a deadline. Not f**king around.

Would be astounded if he doesn’t end up in L1. Same with Haks Craig and TLT unfortunately. That’s the major disappointment for me

Hasn’t been great has he.

In fact Iv been convinced he has been carrying a knock but doubt he’d have played 120 mins if he has.

Haks body language has been awful for four games now. Whining about almost everything.
He threw a real strop away at Crewe when a smoke bomb was on the pitch. Also having a pop at his team mates for not passing to him.
Last night we needed grafters as much as we needed skill, Haks didn't exactly put much effort in to win his one on one duals or 50/50 tackles.

Molly on the other hand, although he wasn't tip top, he ran his blood to water.
If both leave, I trust GM to bring in other crowd pleasers.

My opinion is he didn’t want to get injured as he’s already got an agreement elsewhere. As good as he’s been, he’s not been interested since the Barrow game.

Unfortunately I am resigned to both Moly and Haks going.

Those, Craig and TLT will all leave a huge hole in our team.

I was thinking the whole game we needed to get the ball to Moly as he was testing their defence.

We really do have some ridiculous supporters of this club. Haks has single handedly almost got us into the playoffs, the form he was in was never going to go on forever, and when it’s dropped off a bit he’s getting slagged off.

The word is Molyneux has an offer from Australia and if his circumstances allow him to take that chance then you really couldn’t blame him. I may be wrong but I feel like if he opts to stay in this country there’s every chance he stays here.

Haks wasn’t at his best last few games but he’s been superb for us and even last night, when he wasn’t on top form, he looks like making things happen. Would be a superb signing for us at this level and I feel like there’s a good chance of that.

Craig - zero chance that he stays. Needs replacing with a good all round midfield player. We need physicality as well as quality in that position. Right now there’s only Bailey that looks like he could play in a title winning team. We missed Biggins last night, maybe he stays?

TLT - I don’t know if there’s any chance of him coming back. I’d love to see us put a bid in for him. He needs games. If we can’t get him back then a commanding goalkeeper becomes an absolute priority signing this summer. We will not challenge for promotion with the ones we have under contract. Harsh but true.

I have never seen a player of his size and stature nesh so many headers.

(Yes I know we wouldn’t have got play-offs without him and he’s been superb in general)

Not his game though is it? Haks has been a success because GM gives him pretty much zero defensive responsibility because he’s useless at it.

If he's got an offer for Australia if I was him I'd be straight on that plane and out of this country.

Funny how quick fickle fans turn , been nothing short of a revelation since he came , thought he did ok last night missed Biggins energy in the final 3rd where he picks up pockets, made it easier for their CB's they only really had to worry about Ironside

Haks has been knackered for the last few games, he was on fire  during Ramadan when he was fasting, you have to wonder how much that took out of him

Apologises if came across as “ fickle”
Would love to keep them both, just Hacks body language wasnt great last night. Perhaps just frustration.

See Moly has put a post up, about the dissapointment yesterday etc but closes the post with

'we are all hurting from this but our day will come'

Dont seem the words of someone leaving the club? Or maybe I'm clutching at straws for him to stay!

Well, McCann did say a while ago that another was close however, the run for the play offs focused everyone's attention on that, so maybe there's just a couple of issues to resolve but the intent is there.

No doubt many will disagree but my opinion of Molly is that he is a good player but could be an even better player if he used his brain.
When you cut inside from the right don't try and take half the defence on. You can't do it! You have scored some great goals with your left foot when you cut inside but for some reason you don't have a go often enough.
As far as taking players on. DON'T. You can't beat an egg. Just get the cross in or have a shot. Whenever we have tried to play one touch football we have looked good. Moan over.
Roll on next season.  :chair: :chair:

To be fair, he had been using his noggin more recently. Getting in to more central  positions and making different runs, whereas Friday, he seemed to resort back to the 'one trick pony' performance. Maybe that's what pressure does.

He wasn’t alone by anymeans so maybe it just got to them at the wrong time.
