Title: The Joe Glossary
Post by: ncRover on May 22, 2024, 11:41:49 am
Now that we have 3 Joes in the squad I foresee some confusion on the horizon.

So I propose this:

- Joe          Mr Sbarra.

- Joey        Mr Ironside.

- Joseph    Mr Olowu.

Stephen King’s son is called Joe, too.
I’m not joking.
But he is.

I was also thinking about the Joe situation. We can’t have ever had 3 before? Could even have a 3-Joe move resulting in a goal.

What other Joes have we had?

Joe Laidlaw of course. A bit of timber on there shall we say, but a quality player with the compulsory 70s ‘tache.

Stephen King's other son is called Juan, which I think is worse.

At one time we did have three James's. Hayter, Chambers and,  of course, Coppinger.

Plus O'Connor, Husband and Baxendale around that time - not sure if all six in same squad though?

Reminds me of the brief period where we had three Roberts (Robertses?). Kept the kitman on his toes if nothing else.

IRONSIDE could never be referred to as Joey. He is an out and out Joe

Neil and his daughter feature heavily in the Wrexham doc. Hasn't mentioned his time at the Rovers though! He's one of my favourite ever Rovers players.

Neil Roberts was my second favourite Rovers striker ever but Ironside just shades it now. Chris Brown is still number one.

I thought that but it’s his Instagram account says “joey Ironside” so it must be his chosen nickname

Also the time we had three Williamses, two of them being a Dean Williams!

Dean A Williams
Dean P Williams
Paul Williams

I seem to remember signing Winston White and Chris White at the same time too.

Remember having a Black, Green and a Brown at one point, though the Black was very brief.

Jo Jo was a man who thought he was a loner
But he knew it couldn't last
Jo Jo left his home in the local zoner
For some Keepmoat grass!
