President Macron has called a General election to be held in France to be held on 30th of June, after the far Right parties have swept the board in France’s Euro Eletion, ie Le Pens party won 31.5% of the vote Macrons
Arty won 15.1% .After the results became clear this evening Macron appeared on French TV at 8pm and called the election,
The Far right has won on illegal IMMIGRATION
and Green ecology measures banning Petrol driven Cars by 2035!!!
Which would give China an unfair advantage over
European Car manufacturers!
They also want the right to veto any measures coming from Brussels that they don’t like!

Macron “The rise of Nationalism is a danger to France!”

Popularism rises when the masses are ignored by the ruling elite. Wait for certain elements on here to roll out the usual tropes of racism, ppl were lied too etc rather than face reality. Dismiss the people’s concerns at your peril

Just watching France 24 usual shite from lefty frogs.
LE PENS party dishonest will claim popular policies then completely change course if they get in power, Sound familiar !

The masses feel ignored when economic conditions become tough.
The right always rises in hard times.
-
100% expected. There’s a certain element in politics that feel they know what the public wants more than the public themselves. You see it on here, not many but enough.

All of the Idiots moaning about the Tories inflicting grief and hardship need to look at what is happening in the rest of Europe, voting for Labour will be an unparalleled disaster!

That makes a lot of sense, it's bad elsewhere so the tories are forgiven for making it bad in the UK.

Europe is voting for ever more hard right policies, and even supporting autocrats like Erdogan and Orban.
How is this good news for Europe?

Correct but if politicians constantly ignore the people they foster the atmosphere and that in turn influences voting. Politicians of all sides have treated the electorate with contempt

All the same!

The people? God help us... Have you NO understanding of human nature Sprotty?

We can't have people having free thoughts.

What has that got to do with the price of fish?
Thatcher was a maniac, harridan but she still believed in democracy.
-
Do you know why this country is the greatest country?
It's an accident of history. Events conspired to produce the world's first free democracy.
That gave us the ability to argue, endlessly. It gave us the ability to change and adapt.
This is the gift of Great Britain to the world.
It needs to be defended at all costs.
It is the reason Britain is different.

The rise in far right Nationalist parties is the road to hell.

All of the Idiots moaning about the Tories inflicting grief and hardship need to look at what is happening in the rest of Europe, voting for Labour will be an unparalleled disaster!
Tax at near record high.
NHS waiting lists at record high.
Cost of living crisis.
Record high number of people using food banks.
Prisons over crowded.
Number of homeless children at record high.
Decreasing average life expectancy.
Raw sewage and disease from it rife.
Rising number of millionaires and billionaires in the UK.
Wake up and smell the coffee. Change needed. Right wing economic policies don't work.
-

Nowt to do with the price of anything, but it has everything to do with it being acceptable for someone to admire another, even an opponent, without agreeing with them.

I don't agree with anyone who agrees with Vladimir Putin. Do you?
-
Are you basing this on Farage saying he admired Putin's handling of the Syria crisis more than 10 years ago?
-
I'm basing this on Farage naming Vladimir Putin as the world leader he most admires.

Well don't vote for him then! Stick with Keir Starmer (snigger).

I've learnt something tonight, RD. I thought you were a reasonable (although, obviously politically misled) guy. I now realise that not only are you misled, but you have had to resort to being unreasonable in your pursuit of maintaining some form of credence in your political stance.
Sad really.
-
Go on then, how am I being unreasonable?
-
Bentley I don't have anything against you, I just find some of these opinions so extreme.
Genuinely, I'd like to try and understand why you've come to think like this.
-
You have been unreasonable because, in your pursuit of gaining smarty points for your beloved Labour Party, you have used a deceiving headline about someone in opposition.
Sad really.

We can grumble at and about these far right politicians as much as we like, but the question is why are people voting for them not why are they idiots.
Across Europe last night incumbents appeared to fair quite badly. Perhaps in a lot of cases global events are harmful to everyone in power democratically despite their political leanings.
Very interesting to see if the right finally win in France, it's been coming.

People don't like their concerns being dismissed and belittled. What is been seen now is the result of that

Nope. That's passing the buck.
The problem is with electorates who have rejected parties that had the right answer to the GFC.
We've elected smooth politicians who spun easy to digest answers instead of awkward ones who tried telling it like it was.

Ah but, the theory put forward is that your hell is someone else's utopia according to the last few posts then the question comes up, Who is right?
Both main parties are culpable to the current situation, The Tories were given a clear mandate of what the people of this country wanted by the Brexit vote, a democratic vote by the people of this country to leave.
Members of both parties disrespected that vote and conspired in every way possible to stunt, overthrow, and ignore the will of the people, led by some parties that are still in government and the opposition and are still conniving to overturn that democratic vote, and have purposely made thigs more difficult for it to be a success with the intention of eventually re-joiningthe to the point of surrendering our legal system to the whims of the ECJ to over rule our own justice departments.
The Labour Party have always stood against any legislation to stop the immigration problem, as have the legal profession it being one of their biggest cash cows.
All in all it's time for them all in the two main parties to get the boot and be exposed for the charlatans they are, followed by the lefts infiltration into education and the civil service, and instead of idealist thinking start to do what is best for the country.
The educated Idiots in both parties have been exposed, it's time to get rid.

Selby, can you name all the immigration policies since 2010 (unless you meant forever) and then show how labour opposed it all.

https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/commentaries/uk-election-2024-immigration-policy-tracker/
It's quite interesting in there. A lot of the things labour voters have criticised are now not opposed by labour. Reading this with the exception of Rwanda there is very little difference.

Would that be the Rwanda policy that has worked like a dream in reducing the number of people coming over by boat and cost the tax payer nothing?
-
All the same, with a few soundbites to placate the activists.
Don't expect too many differences evidenced on this. But then it could all be a rouse and change quite dramatically when power is achieved.

I'll have to be a bit pedantic here, Sproty. I worked as a site clerk on the new Doncaster Prison, and it took around 3 and a half years to complete; 6 months behind schedule.
I take your point though, that overcrowded prisons can't be dealt with overnight.

Yes Herbert, they will say they will stop the boats and illegal immigration , the things that they have let happen and helped as much as possible to put the the government in bad light as much as they can in the past, they will allow those here now to stay, and whatever they say they will do before the election , they will do sod all about if they get in power.
Now you say what you think they will do, and we will see who is nearer the truth this time next year if I am still about that is.
At least history is on my side, apart from the first ten years 1946 to 1956 both sets have been useless all the rest of my life, they actually rebuilt this country those first ten years railways, roads, cities, the health service, and council houses, and its been a balls up ever since by both major parties, time for them to be booted out and someone else have a go instead of the educated idiots.

Hi Syd the poor mans BST disciple, Blair was elected in !997 the biggest mistake he made for this country was in 2004 when he declared open house on students from 10 new members of the EU mostly eastern European countries with poor wage structures and working conditions and led to an large influx of cheap labour and dependants.
In 2008 international students numbers doubled and dependants also given the right to enter the country and numbers have rose every year since except 2017 after the Brexit vote.
As you well know every time the government sent a bill to the house of Lords for the last number of years especially under Boris Johnson concerning Brexit and Immigration the bills were defeated by a combination of Labour the Liberals and other parties voting against the government en block.
The biggest rise in Emigration away from this country was in 1998/9 when the wealthy left the country as Blair had been elected something that will happen again probably starting in the autumn, as will big business.

Rumour has it when he went to Australia five houses for sale in his street were taken off the market.
