Please let it be 3/8 first match OR 10/8.
In any event home or "southern" away.
-
First league game is on the weekend of the 10th August.
-
Notts County away would do me 1st game, that is if we can't play a home fixture due to Dons being at home
-
Bromley away.
-
Port Vale away to say hello to Darren
-
Would agree with Bromley away.
-
Wombles away.
-
Notts County will be amongst the Christmas fixtures along with Chesterfield etc.
-
Most excited about the fixture release for years
:scarf:
-
Its almost ruled in to be either a relegated team or one of the unsucessful play off teams away in all cases.
-
Crewe away
-
Obviously I am missing something, but why does everyone want our first game to be away?

Because it's ace.

I don't think we do, mate. We've just resigned ourselves to the fact that it will be an away game, because the Dons are playing at the Eco on that day.
-
Home first please, I'm away the next two Saturdays.

You'll be disappointed then, mate.
-
Unless we play on Friday night
-
I would like to see all our players in our first match, at home, and see how they look and perform. That won't happen if we are away. A hat trick for Sharp? I hope so.
-
Colchester away.
-
Start with an easy one, eh!
-
Thinking about it there is a high chance it won't be a 3pm sat game with the new TV deal to think about
-
First impressions is a good opening run of fixtures, with a chance to build a winning start.
Conversely, the run in looks more testing so I hope by then we are firmly established as front runners.
As with any season though, it's going to take at least a dozen games before we get a better idea how the season might pan out and where our strengths and weaknesses lie.
Bring it on!
-
Well yet again we’ve been given a massive shit sandwich at Christmas! Who came up with these?!
Boxing Day - AWAY at Walsall
28 December - AWAY at Colchester
-
Also, remember that this season is the first where each week two League Two matches will be broadcast live at 12.30pm on Saturdays.
They won’t confirm which games these are until early July. So it is entirely possible that lots of our games are still to be moved. And they are only guaranteeing this up until Christmas.
Nobody asked for this, yet it is being foisted upon us to fill the gaps in the Sky Sports schedule.

August looks pretty tricky, to me. First game at home, Accrington, is one we’ve , historically, found difficult. Newport away is a complete unknown, as they’ve changed their manager. Morecambe - see Accrington comment above. Playing Port Vale early maybe a good thing.
-
At least we play on the Newport pitch when it’s in prime condition and not a mud pit
-
What do Rovers have to do to get a decent boxing day fixture? I thought the EFL were going to sort this out years ago?
-
Let's just hope we can win at home on opening day for the first time in 20 years.

Worked out not too bad really, rather miss game 3 than 1.

Shouldn't be if we really want to win the league we need a good start this time around, no excuses.
-
What an awful set of fixtures. Nothing to get excited about at all.

Yes, mate, I called that wrong, so I'm really pleased for you.
By God, though, they're going to have to get those rugby goalposts up pretty quick for a 6.30 pm KO. Unless, of course, they move our KO to 12.30 pm.

I have analysed the boxing day games from 2000-2023.
Of the 24 games, we have had 14 away (W6 D0 L7 PP1), and 10 at home (W6 D0 L3 PP1)
So not quite as skewed as most of us remember, but definitely more away than at home.

You're right about Accrington, Alan, but we popped that bubble last season when we pumped them 4-0.
Plus they no longer have John Coleman at the helm.

It's what you get in this league!
