Title: 10 August
Post by: philsky on July 19, 2024, 09:35:25 am

A handful of questions in my mind ahead of the first match:

How many season tickets sold - surely way way more than last season (that includes me) ?

Opening day attendance - the feel good factor must have it over 8k ?

With a pretty fit squad will GM go for 4-3-3 ? and how will we line up given that imo TSL, Sterry, Maxwell, Wood, Anderson, Ironside, Molyneux and Bailey are already shoe-ins - I also think Sbarra will start - doesn't leave much space left for the others

If we re-sign Matty Craig before 10th August, I think we might threaten 10k.

Philski, I picked up my season ticket card yesterday and was told that we had sold about 3500 of them.

We wouldn't get 10k if we had Ronaldo playing. Zero chance

Some said signing Billy Sharp would generate additional attendances that would go a long way to paying his wages.

Now, it's more likely that if we start well and win games, those more sceptical, or less committed ones will appear again, just as followed last season.

I'd love there to be a bumper crowd on the opening fixture but, it's still holiday season which might keep a few away, but my guess is 7,500 to 8000, which would be decent.

Great thread. Birthday of champions - Antonio Banderas, Kylie Jenner, Bernardo Silva, Roy Keane & NickDRFC.

That is dreadful. Wow. Fair play to Bramall funding this summer whilst the most of league 2 have made more money on STs than us. Yes those with slightly less sold sell them much dearer.

If 3500 is correct, it's massively down on last season.

I thought signing Billy would boost sales, but apparently not.

I wonder if paying monthly now not been available on the cart on the website has impacted this drop in sales. Last year it was there. Now I can't see it, yet I think it's still supposed to be on offer

Strong possibility We've not even made a million quid on STs then with how cheap they are plus poor sales.

Ultimately, that's the cost of failure.  A full house came to the eco power in the 2nd leg and Rovers didn't turn up.
Different story if we'd have gone up.

We need to get off to a blistering start to bring those people back, and they will be paying full price.
Build it and they will come. Terry, Grant and Gavin are still building the foundations.

"They"will come, soon.

To assure everyone that ST sales are UP on this time last season.

If we have a good season and the numbers still come to support by rolling up on the day, the club make more money. Just not guaranteed income. Results based.

That's good to hear, LR. So the figure quoted as 3500 must be wrong?

Not necessarily SS,
LR said they are up on THIS TIME last year so maybe there will be a late rush.
It was Tracy in the shop who told me the figure.

Can anyone quote the exact figure on last season's ST sales? I heard it was around 5000, but of course that could be wrong.

Building a winning team and getting off to a winning start particularly after the unbeaten end to the league form will help build a 8 -10k home attendances .

Is there any reason why it's kept secret? A lot clubs make a big deal about it.

Think it was around 4.500
Usually get a late rush on season tickets.
I am sure we will beat last seasons total.

As for getting a gate of over 7.500 v Accrington well dream on and I am a glass half full person.
Accrington will bring 300 fans and its peak holiday time.
If we get 7.500 I will be delighted. If we win our opening home game I will be even more delighted as we don’t do that very often.

If we are top of the league or thereabouts then we could average 8.500 this season but anything higher is a pipe dream. Remember we are in League 2

Our average in 2016/17 when we were promoted was less than 7.000 and in 2003/04 was also under 7.000
When we were Champions of League 1 in 2012/13 we averaged only 7.900

I think we can beat all the above figures this season as the Grant McCann factor has definitely created a positive good feel about our team again. With Billy Sharp returning also that will help also.

Getting 10.000 + gates is only likely to happen v Bradford, Chesterfield, Notts County & Grimsby Town.
A bit of realism needed I think.

A lot of clubs got more in than us last season. Had we not got the biggest away end other than Notts County we'd be bottom half. Again with how low our prices are and lack of sales Bramall needs a statue building

According to a latest free press click bait article not from Ricky we had an average of just over 7,000 hopefully we can add another 1,000 on over the season.

I'm expecting around 6,500 for the first game. Hopefully we can produce some good results and stay in and around the top of the table.

Yes, that's unfortunately how things are and have been for much of our history since the sixties.

It's a shame that last season will be viewed as a failure in the eyes of those who swelled the gates towards the end of the season. We're probably back to the default setting of 'Wait and see' if we continue winning games.

We spoke about momentum and upward trajectory and hopefully, we're still on that path despite the play off loss, but it will take some seasons of progression before we see 10k plus crowds on a regular basis.
