Signed for salford one year deal
-
I wish him the very best of luck other when they play us ! I hope his injury problems are behind him.
-
Such a popular player wherever he has been !
-
Feels like his last chance, I hope it works out for him. Cruel luck he’s had, seems a top bloke too.
-
Pleased he’s got a league contract, hope he’s fit enough to play 30+ games and have a really positive impact there.
-
His agent must be a conman
-
That should be a good move for Tayls, I'm really pleased he's got fixed up with a league club.
All the best Jon.
-
If he stays fit he could be one of the best wide players in the league. However I do think the last few years won't of been kind to his body and for that I doubt he will be the same player again.

You wonder whether the contract's terms will be conditional on fitness to play. It seems a huge leap of faith.

Possibly, there could be another 12 months if he plays x number of games. They normally say if such a clause is in the contract though. Could be a gentleman's agreement.
Will be our luck he plays most games and helps Salford get promoted. I just feel it was best to part ways. We now have younger fitter wide options who have more to offer now and going forward. Still I liked Taylor he worked hard and was a goal threat if not wasteful at times, but that's l2 and l1 players. If they wasn't they would play higher up.
-
I’m pleased for him he’s got another years wages but surely Salford taking a massive gamble here, they’ll be lucky if he plays 10 games.
-
Not the same player. Looked a shadow of the player he was when he first joined. When he did play games. No threat what so ever
-
It’s not just his body his mind must be wondering if he is going to be injured again. Really hope he has a good run except for 3 games
-
Not so much a leap of faith, as he’s in on the basis of a successful trial, so fair play to him. The question is for how long? It’s another year’s salary, so he’s done ok. Good luck to him.
-
Good luck to him, seems a real decent bloke.
Salford don’t look as serious as they have done in recent seasons though, it has to be said.

I think the novelty is wearing of with the owners at Salford, the same will happen at Wrexham

Wrexham have a much higher ceiling than Salford. Salford have hit there's. They might get in league 1, 1 day. They just don't have the support. Most are Man Utd fans that can't get a ticket at Old Trafford
-
Yeah, Wrexham can generate much more money just from the fact that Rob and Ryan have attracted a load of weirdos who had never heard of football, and all of sudden they’re buying tickets and merchandise. Salford not got that going for them.
-
Be a miracle if he stays fit all season. Hope he does though.
-
It somehow feels wrong to speculate pessimistically about this, but because it seems unfathomable, it is difficult not to be tempted.
There was every indication that Josh Sims’ career could never resume after the succession of seemingly worse injuries and health setbacks he suffered, but amazingly he did get back to match fitness. For what I have seen of his games though, often as a substitute for Ross County in the SPL, albeit at its bottom end, he was no longer the dynamic force he was with us. To be at his most effective he needed great speed and strength and the resilience to withstand the crunching, often mistimed tackles that he faced, and it seems that he has had to adjust his game accordingly.
I make this comparison because from what I remember of Taylor at his best (and he never reproduced it after his first (part) season), he was more or less the same type of player. When he has reappeared in a Rovers shirt he seemed more risk-averse, perhaps not surprisingly. This will be his third “re-set” and if somehow he does become an effective asset for Salford, they deserve credit for taking the risk and it will be a great and remarkable achievement for Taylor himself.
-
Never really bought into Taylor tbh. A good character though and you have to feel for him when he’s had such horrific luck with injuries. Must be mentally exhausting not being able to do what you love.
-
For me he is one of those very very few players we let go, where if he does really well my first thought is not 'why did we let him go'. My first thought will be very much be 'that's terrific for the lad, I am so pleased'. Good luck Tayl's and I hope you do everyone proud.
-
Good luck to the lad, I hope he can manage to stay injury free for a few years. In all honesty though I can't see what the fuss about his footballing ability was all about.
-
When fit a decent player, he is all effort and someone fans can get behind because of that, he has limitations though, he is a player who should have scored way more than he did. Interesting that the final ball or shot was the reason Kyle Hurst was let go by the Brum- he’s not doing too bad so far this season, a coming of age, let’s hope. Anyway good luck to John a decent guy who gave 100% when on the pitch
-
If he’s fit enough to play against us he’ll get a great reception from me, really feel for the guy given what he’s been through and the fact he’s never given up hope is more than commendable
-
It will be a miracle if he plays anymore than 50% of their league games. If he does stay fit all season, what does that say about our medical department over the last 3 years? Might be nothing in it all, but would make you wonder. Wasn’t it Taylor that was quite vocal about how one of his injuries had been handled?

I suppose that the initial medical treatment/rehabilitation regime may well have been crucial to what was further down the line for him. There were indications and perhaps circumstantial evidence that at that stage what we had at the club fell well short of ideal. We can now hope that what is in place now has overcome those inadequacies.
-
SM has explained several times about how medical treatment is covered, that said it was a strange comment for JT to make
-
I thought Taylor's gripe was that he was forced back too early when he knew he wasn't right?

Come on. If you really thought you weren't right, would you play against your will?
Now, I'm sure there will be many cases where players might have believed their injuries had healed, and felt OK to play but maybe the root cause wasn't and it reoccurred. Nobody in this day and age is going to be forced to play if they think they're not right.
Here's an example. Richie Wellens needed a hernia op before we played Leeds at Wembley, but he chose to play with injections. Now, he probably weighed up the risk before taking the injections. He got the winners medal, had the operation and went on to have a successful career. Some may have not been so lucky.

That was a game when Richie was manager. Wellens was watching the game from the stands and when he sent the message to Paul Gerrards earpiece to bring Taylor on Gerrard turned round and shouted so everyone around could hear "What the f**k are you doing". Gerrard left the club soon afterwards.
