Two weeks to go until the season starts and yet those living abroad still don't have any real idea on how they are going to watch the Rovers this season. iFollow is done, the club did communicate this to me in reply a few weeks ago:
********
Hope you’re well
The iFollow service won’t exist but there will definitely be a replacement for it.
At present the EFL are trying to transfer 72 club websites to new providers and linking into the different elements across all those sites which includes feeds from the Press Association, Opta etc.
Apps and Video Players will launch with costings for subscriptions (which we expect to be similar to all iFollow products).
The majority of the websites transferred last week and there has been some teething issues as not everyone has used the same providers.
As soon as we can this information will be released.
******
I have a very bad feeling about this season for exiles. I hope something will come soon but I can see the CBS deal getting in the way of a lot of content from clubs.

The launch of the new product offering will be next week.
The video streaming will be coming directly through the EFL product so we'll have little input to that.
However we have opted out of the collective product offering and have gone with a direct service through one of the major suppliers, Urban Zoo . https://urbanzoo.io/
That has several advantages, including receiving subscriptions directly rather than letting the EFL track the monies and allocate after costs etc.
This also means the app provider and the streaming provider is exactly the same.
The audio commentary is being tested at today's game, and we'll plug into the EFL system next week.
I'd expect to see lots of news around this in the next few days.

Thanks for the information and reassurance SM. It's good to know.

Thanks SM

Thank you for the info folks… fingers crossed

Keep your eye out tomorrow!

So all we need now is a means to sign up - or am I missing something obvious?
-
That and I've asked for clarification if it includes ALL League Two Rovers matches
-
So supporters that are unable to attend and live in England and don't subscribe to sky sports will be unable to live screening. Thank you

You can get a day pass with Now TV to watch one off games. It’s pretty much the same as it’s been previously, the only difference is that you watch through Now TV rather than ifollow and it’s more expensive (a day pass is £15 compared to the £10 it cost to watch ifollow). You do get the added benefit of access to all sports that day, but it is a pretty steep increase for anyone paying game to game.
-
To be honest, there never seems to be any good news.

That's always been the case.
-
I will be getting the international season ticket. I interpret it that all games will still be shown internationally due to the different TV deals, similar to Iplayer before.
-
So you can still purchase individual live matches for £10, or pay monthly £25???
The article says "All passes will be able to purchase in due course"
I don't really get all the angst.

I'm just wondering if a by product of all this is match highlights only being made available through the + platform? Up to recently, all highlights were also published on the clubs YouTube channel (usually next day), however no YouTube content has been published since the Portugal trip.
Middlesbrough published their highlights of our game on both their website and YouTube channel. Any idea what our intentions are?

We posted the highlights on the DRFC app. Not sure why they weren't on Youtube.

Cheers. Yes, I saw the highlights on the website. The good news is McCann and Woods pre Rotherham interviews have appeared on YouTube so hopefully all is good.

Sounds like an identical service to IFollow.
So should see every match overseas for just less than £4, not bad really, even though it’s a 43% increase on the cost of IFollow season ticke v last season. Hopefully Rovers pocket the uplift.
-
Thanks SM

Not complaining as hopefully more income for Rovers, but 43% is a pretty significant increase. Hopefully that's reflected in the quality of the content.

Cut to the elephant in the room question:
"Wil I be able to watch on my dodgy stick"?

Yes if on sky sports…. However…Can you get the sky sports+ option? As most of the games are offered as a choice on the + channel.
Trying to fathom out the difference between the normal sky sports which are all available on a ‘dodgy’ stick and Sky sports+.
-
I'm on Virgin and my set top box is being replaced as Sky+ won't work on my current box.
-
I thought ifollow was still running but only for people who live abroad?
-
Rovers app is available from the App Store for iPhone so assuming same for other devices. It’s a huge improvement on the old app so congrats to Rovers for going with their own provider.
Great app design and a ton of good content.
-
Still nothing to purchase and no response from the club if Rovers+ covers video for all their league games.
SM are the club running into issues with this service?
