We want to avoid a hangover from last season by not constantly comparing the team’s form to the once in a lifetime form of the end of last season.
After the Sutton game where Ironside scored that last minute penalty we went on a 17 game run of 13 wins 3 draws and 1 loss.
If you extrapolate that over a full 46 game season you get (approximately) a whopping 113 points. Such a target would obviously be unrealistic and unnecessary.
To eclipse Stockport and Leyton Orient’s recent title winning points tallies and pretty much guarantee first place, we are looking at 93 points.
To get that tally we would need 28 wins 9 draws and 9 losses.
Over a typical 10 game period of form that looks like 6 wins 2 draws and 2 losses. That is the title winning form so for future reference we don’t need a forum wide autopsy for the odd few losses here and there.
Let’s keep the positivity going!

2 points per game average. Simples.
Obviously we don't know what McCann is targeting or how he's challenged the players to achieve it but for me, they need to get into the same mindset they were in on the run working towards that record, where it''s like knockout football.
In previous promotion seasons, we've had runs of wins, a couple of 5 or 6 on the bounce, will go a long way to being successful. High standards, consistency, resolve, ruthlessness etc, all need to be shown from the first whistle.

Completely agree about positivity, but 13 wins 5draws and 1 loss add up to 19 games!

Can’t remember if it was Sod that used to use the 10/12 game mini league to split the season up into quarters.
Maybe grant will use something similar to keep the pressure on or off depending on how our overall form and results are going

Even when we were languishing around the bottom of league 2 last season, grant was always optimistic about making the play offs. I think he doesn’t worry about the table until the last game, that old saying of one game at a time.

Stockport went 12 league wins in a row as well last season so although we shouldn’t have such high expectations it wouldn’t surprise me if we did it again. Last season I thought only Stockport and Mansfield were teams I believed were better than us and the rest were very much winnable games. Have to remember how many points we pretty much gave away rather than lost so nothing is impossible.

It’s always been an average of 2 points per game. Get that and we are up. Sounds easy
