This is only the 5th time in our 98 League/Conference seasons that we have scored 4 in the opening match,we have never scored 5 or more.
The other four occasions were:
1978-79 when we won 4-3 at Hartlepools
1971-72 when we beat Newport 4-2 at Home
1965-66 when we beat Lincoln 4-0 at Home
1937-38 when we beat Bradford City 4-0 at Home.
Strangely the last game of 1978-79 was also a 4-3 away win, at Grimsby in a very forgettable season (finished 22nd)
Jack Lewis only scored 5 goals all season, of which 4 in those two games
