Since we have one on the best left footed strikes, why not the best headed goals.
Staying away from the obvious Wembley and JPT headers, here is one of my favourites from Hayter

-
Andy Butler at the Valley in play offs.
Beat that
-
Hugh Dowd, at home vs Exeter (81 or 82) Friday vending on Leger weekend.
Header at the Rosso end from the penalty area D. Keeper had no chance..
More recently but can’t remember if it was a header or not, Rob Jones’ last gasp winner at Stevenage.. checked - it was..
-
Rufus Brevet buried a diving header from distance in 1990, shame it was wrong end
-
The obvious one is Hayters v Weeds but he also scored an outrageous header at Watford away I think.
See the opening comment, that watford goal is what i linked.
-
Sharp at scunny when he whipped his shirt off and pissed all their fans off.
Dave Morley at Stoke has to be the winner though, what a header.
-
Even more recently.
Biggins at home against barrow. Sent the entire eco-power into carnage

Never ever forget that. Carnage in the stands, we don’t see that often.
-
Ironside recently from a cross by Miller .
-
Any from Mr Sheffield, there are too many to remember
-
Ditto, any from Brendan O'Callaghan. Some absolute bullets.

I have no idea how I didn’t see the opening post!! My apologies
-
Duggie scored a few bullet headers in his time.
-
Ernie Moss
-
Hayter scored a right header from the penalty spot against Watford from a Stocky left footed cross. I used to think Hayter was the best header of the ball compared to his size I’ve seen he scored a great diving header at Luton and another at Hartlepool.
-
Laurie Sheffield (various) and James Hayter (Wembley).
-
That Biggins headed goal from Tommys cross at the end of last season will take some beating ! Pure Poetry……
-
Bruno jones wins this thread, scored loads of headed goals in one season before he tried to head a bouncers baseball bat.
-
Rob Jones away at Stevenage. Simply no way he was letting us lose or draw that game.
-
Has to be either Jones @ Stevenage or Biggins against Barrow
-
For me, the best headed goal of all time has to be Geoff Houchen's for Coventry City in the FA Cup Final against Spurs. Total cracker of a goal

Lee Turnbull

That cross by tommy was 1 of the best crosses you will see. Dont think the cross got enough credit it deserved
-
Hard one this, I must have watched countless Douglas and Bruno headers, I think I have a hazy memory of a good Jonny muir header too.
-
That useless centre half called Taylor in Stan Anderson's team had an uncanny knack of scoring good headers - usually from corners.

BrianTaylor came from Middlesbrough with Peter Creamer , who himself became a policeman and was the manager of Brandon United who we played in the F A Cup 1st round. Brian Taylor used to play with his socks rolled down, tough player who never took a backwards step
-
Brian Taylor was originally from Hodthorpe which is near Whitwell, and that is where Joe Davis the past master snooker player is from
-
The third goal at Charlton, headed in by Marquis following an amazing move at speed by May and Wilks.
I will never forget that moment and people I never knew jumping on me to celebrate, unbelievable moment in the away end.
Sadly it only lasted a few minutes.

Anyone remember Bayo’s header at Bristol Rovers in our league 2 title winning season under Penney? Can’t find it on t’interweb. That always sticks in my mind. It was that goal that settled my nerves and gave me confidence that we were going to win the league that year.

Many thanks ol boy. I haven’t got the patience to trall the web for too long.
It’s not actually how I remembered it. Thought it was much further out. It did however, still carry the same significance.
-
James Hayter away at Hartlepool 07/08. James Hayter at Wembley 07/08 and James Hayter Watford away 09/10.

Surprised no one has mentioned graeme Lee at the millennium stadium
-
No contest for me, has to be Hayter at Watford. It was from the edge of the box, he was competing with the defender and he had to generate all the power while airborne to score it. Unbelievable goal.

It was mentioned on the original post

James Hayter away at Hartlepool 07/08...
Proper Roy of the Rovers header that was.
You can see it briefly here, 1min 23secs in. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJV67DSLL_E&t=92s)
-
Duiof away at Bristol City was a well taken header. Paynter v Brentford at home. Hayter at Watford. Going on match importance and the Wembley header is bar far the best. For a small bloke he was very good in the air. In fact he was a top player all round.
-
Butler away at Charlton is one of my favourites right in front of us
