Title: Newport v DRFC
Post by: bellevuebulgar on August 17, 2024, 01:03:34 pm
Go on then.... I'm an avid follower of the Lucky Pint but never started a thread. Time to get started!
Here's hoping for a better performance than last year. Both teams significantly changed ... but not a difficult prediction, Rovers win...... 0-3.

Ditto BVB, 0-3 for me too, there is far too much petrol in the tank for Newport to keep up with us.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Rovers+ provides better coverage today. Should be a good game. Not sure it will be the walkover that some are predicting but I’ll go for a 1-0 win to Rovers. Come on Donny!

Really strong midfield potentially that. Let’s hope they get it together. That’s hopefully where the game will be won.

I looked for totalsporteck just now for a link to our game but the pages I looked through didn’t show our game.
Do you have any further info Adam.

Shows the competition for places is very stiff when McGrath, Nixon and Westbrooke don't even make the squad.

Most difficult game yet. We'll have to be on it to win it. Expecting a very tight game.

4 changes, if we can get this back to a draw it will be a great result. Not confident.

We’ve been a yard behind them all game to be fair, partly due to their play, but more so due to the way we are playing - it’s not clicking correctly.

I said in pre-season that our defence still has the same old problems.

It certainly doesn't look a title winning defence.

Rovers still have more shots on goal than Newport, they have made theirs count.

oh ye of little faith

Its isnt not having faith. Its responses to conceding straight after the break again.
Should we say "yes thats ok, we dont mind conceding"
Grant will be fuming for that.

Who switched off this time?

Moly got tackled and they broke away and scored,I thought fouled but cannot be sure without seeing replays/better angle and it was right under ref's nose so maybe it was'nt a foul, that may have been harsh on us,as for the other 2 goals,we was barely coping in midfield defensively and when he took Broadbent off and put Sbarra on,that gave Newport the ability to find more space pushing forward, they are a strong side, able to hold the ball well in tackles.

I don't know about personnel, but we're still not cutting crosses out, or defending headers.

I suppose if Louis had been playing, he'd have got the blame today. However, I don't know what TSL was like with the 3 goals.

Well beaten. Some poor defending and we never really threatened in the second half.Newport deserved the win, pressed well and some good finishing. We need to earn the right to challenge in this league. Sobering thought for the players. Roll on the next game and 3 points !

Story had a torrid time with their player Kwamba today he was tricky and quick.
