And the Everton line up - doesn’t look like he’s playing the kids. I wonder why? Job on the line?

Why Lawlor
Title: Re: Everton V TLOD
Post by: Dutch Uncle on August 27, 2024, 07:03:31 pm
Not a reason, but I think it is Lawlor's 100th appearance for us tonight (all competitions)

I am guessing Fleming might be cup tied?

And maybe Clifton carrying a slight knock?

That really isn’t the case. There’s 5 or 6 of Everton’s best team missing (Branthwaite, Tarkowski, Gana, Doucoure, Harrison, DCL) but then you could say the same about our back 5! That said I wanted to see Olowu & Nixon starting, and Fleming is evidently cup tied, so it’s only really McGrath & especially Lawlor that are picks I’d question. Midfield and attack is what I’d have gone with other than Westbrooke, but if Clifton is injured (which he must be) then it’s not as though Hurst or Sbarra have made an irresistible case for inclusion.

He was nursing a fairly hefty graze to his head from  a Morecombe boot at the end of the last match.

Always think this when you see lower league against PL opposition. Eveything is just so fast and really emphasises the gulf in quality. We're doing well so far and making a good account of ourselves.

A bit harsh to blame JO, it was more Lawlor not making up his mind what to do, he is not good enough.

Lawlor came out when he didnt need to, JO had it covered and was just looking for the simple header back, lawlor made him have to take a rash swipe at it

What a contrast with the lackadaisical performance against Morecambe! I might say that it doesn’t look like the same team and of course it isn’t, but what a difference in application.

You’d have thought the commentators would have learnt the Rovers players names; both the Accrington and the Morecambe ones did.

We are holding our own, think whoever scores first will win hopefully it will be us on the 89th min with only 1 minute added on.

Tell that this is the first game with this back 5 together.

Can tell the pace the premier league players Vs our lads

Wouldn't make any changes just yet give it 10 minutes

Was worried about the defence but i think if we had wood if fit or anderson in there then we would be losing now. The pace would tear them apart. Mcgrath and olowu are just about keeping up. But both doing enough so far

Wasn’t actually commenting on that incident, they both didn’t communicate.
I was talking about the two occasions early in the game when he just has stood and watched, in particular the early Everton chance. When every other player is running their nuts off.
I actually really like him. But not as our defender.
Opinion’s eh

I can't see the lads keeping up the pace for 90mins they're chasing everything down and burning so much energy.  Hope I'm wrong and we don't need a slow start to the 2nd half like we've been getting so far this season.
